when do we get a rb?

i think that rb is being overlooked. i think we need to get a lb with #1. i just think our rb position is going to change dramatically this offseason. if sparano and ireland are in this for the long haul we need to , i hate to say it but get rid of ronnie and find another long term back in the draft. ronnies injury might be one that he cant fully recover from not to mention hes always injured.

ricky has 1 more year and hes done but theres a possibility the front office might not want him back. it really wouldnt shock me if we took a rb with the #1 or #2 pick, especially how deep the draft is this year.
 
Why? We have so many needs, RB isn't even close to being one of them.

I kind of get your point. Ronnie is a beast, but somewhat injury prone. Ricky has proven capable, but is advancing in age. However, Cobbs and Hilliard have proven to be more than capable of filling in if need be. Our defense needs major work this offseason, and I would much prefer to target WRs in the draft and FA than RBs.

i understand our needs, but its just 1 pick. there going to be high quality players as high 5th or 6th round. cobbs and hilliard have shown some fashes but havent shown flashes also. i dont see either of them being our #1 back of the future. we will get a #1 wr through free agency we dont need to draft anymore wrs.
 
2010 will more than likely be an uncapped year and Ronnie will be a Dolphin next year. Running back should not be a primary need. If we lose Ronnie in 2011, go get a back in the 2011 draft. That's not a big need for us this year. We will have Ronnie, Ricky, Lex, and Cobbs next year. In 2011, we will probably just have Lex and Cobbs and at that point, I would say it becomes a need. Address it in 2011.
 
what if they determine in a few months ronnie isnt going to be ready for next season? with the draft so deep, i think it makes more sense to get one this year.
 
If we draft another runningback we'll have 6 on this team. You have to remember Cobbs is coming back too.

not if ronnies gone. somebody else will be gone even if we dont draft a rb and keep ronnie.we cant keep them all

If Ronnie is not ready for the start of 2010, we will still have Ricky, Lex, and Cobbs ready to go. Ronnie should be ready for the start of training camp anyway, but if he's not, I can't imagine him missing more than a couple of weeks. If the training staff and coaching staff think he will miss more time than that, I still think you can get through the year with Ricky and an improved Hilliard. He looks to be a nice rotational back and I would expect that if Ronnie can't go in 2010, Lex can handle 1/2 the load.

Now if there is a back in the 4th or 5th round that is just too good to pass up, then I say go for it. I just wouldn't be willing to spend a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round pick on a back when we have so many other glaring holes (ILB, FS, OLB, NT, etc.)
 
With Williams/Hilliard/Cobbs AT THE WORST being signed for next season, RB shouldn't be on our radar this offseason.

Our needs at WR, OLB, ILB, NT, FS, TE, far outweigh our need at RB.
 
Williams will not want to play in 2010 if Ronnie is not there. He abhors the feature back role.

I think depending on the situation..if we lose ronnie/ricky. Take Spiller or a back in the third/fourth or wait till 2011 and take a back in the second or first.

thanks for the input guys. im a big ronnie fan , i just the think the end is near for him as a fin. i just wonder if now is the time the front office makes that move.
