When do we start blaming the front office for these holdouts?

First Ronnie Brown, then Jason Allen, now it seems like Ted Ginn might holdout, at what point do we stop blaming the players/agents and start blaming the front office? Once is just a random occerance, 2 times in a row could be a coincidence, but 3 first rounders in a row? theres something wrong here.

not a bad question. I was thinking this morning that the amount of time these things take is absurd, and I was wondering which parts took so much time. For the millions that this will cost, why can't they just sit down and say we don't leave until it is done. It's insane.

I firmly believe there should be a cap number and contract length for each pick and be done... no more holdouts, wasted millions on flops, more money for the guys that have actually earned it.

Yeah, I would think eventually some blame goes to both sides. If it is so important that we get them into camp on time, then Wayne should not only tell the draft pick to get in or sit, but he should tell the Front Office to also "get the deal done". Just my opinion but I think when these things occur both sides are to blame.

How does the NBA do their contracts? I heard mentioing that we should use thier blueprint because they have no holdouts

Since we got all other draft picks in fairly quickly, and Ginn's agent has a history of holding out ...

Like in the NBA?

pfft, later round draft picks don't get nearly as much money and they know if they holdout they can be cut in 2 seconds. When 3 1st rounders in a row holdout, that means the front office is consistantly low balling their first rounders.

Well, considering neither Brown nor Allen have proven worth their contracts thus far I'm not incline to putting any blame on the Dolphins for that. How about we just blame them for drafting poorly.

Oh yeah John Beck and Samson Satele are scared they're going to be cut in 2 seconds, right? Yes you're right. 3 first rounders in a row, shoot man, that's just how it works. And Ginn hasn't held out yet. He has until 1:30 tomorrow. Look what worrying about Mormino got us.

And San Diego has had all but two 1st rounders not holdout this decade. LaDainian, Rivers and Merriman all had long holdouts (and Jammer and Cromartie). I'd trade our FO history with them this decade in a heartbeat.

So pfft right back at ya:goof:

I'l rip on the fins in an instant if I think its deserved but I really don't think they are going on the cheap. The NFL has a salary cap and the Fins use pretty much all of it.

How about we blame the greedy agents that no matter what is offered is going to insist on more.

The reason i made this thread is to pose a question to the people that are getting pissed off at ginn and his agent even though our front office has had 2 holdouts in a row.

Given how Huizenga's mandate helped get John Beck and Samson Satele scared into signing very early, and given how Ronnie Brown and Jason Allen have both been holdouts, and now Ginn looking like he'll be one DESPITE the Huizenga mandate?

Yeah, it's time to start looking Bryan Wiedmeier and Matt Thomas in the eye and start asking them some tough questions about their negotiating tactics and skills. I'm sorry, but it's true.

Yes 3 years in a row we drafted players with money grubbing agents while nearly every other first round pick have less greedy agents
