When does free agency start?

I have this funny feeling that we are going to be major players...
I honestly dont. If the CBA is not redone or extended, then I see us dumping alot of players/salaries.

Wilson or Bell, I hope Wilson.
Crowder (depending on FA and the draft)
Porter
Will Allen
Possibly Smiley etc...

Basically we have a long month and a half of FinHeaven speculation ahead of us first!

My favorite time of the year is comming up!! from the day after the superbowl till our 1st game. The next few weeks will be brutal.

most players are gonna be RFA's and every team will have 3 tags to use

FA is gonna be a joke, unless teams use it as a pre-draft(ie use draft picks on RFA's instead of using them on untested college players)

I would bet that teams will tender RFA's higher than usual due to the lack of UFA's

they've already grossly overpaid green, wilford, wilson among others. why stop now? we're bound to hit eventually.

we did with Starks. we semi-did with Grove and Smiley.
Agree about Starks
Disagree about Grove & Smiley.

While I love their play and love the intensity they bring to our OL, They are constantly hurt. Wasted money in the long run.\

I mean seriously, how can we have given them such big contracts? Why didnt they put Injury clauses etc in their contracts. Lower salary amount and give them large incentives due to level of play and how much they play. That would have lowered the Cap hit and made the contract a little more tolerable.

God, this is gonna be a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong offseason. I'm way more excited than I was last offseason because we got Nolan, and we're looking to bring in some young, mean linebackers.

compared to what Derrick Dockery and Eric Steinbach received on the open market, Smiley's contract isn't so bad, injuries and all.

They were overpaid as well, doesn't mean we didnt overpay ourselves.
I love smiley and would have no issues with his contract if he could finish a 16 game season.

Grove, similar situation, too much money for such little playing time. What kills me is, Grove's playing history has showed that he has a problem staying healthy nearly his entire career yet we still dished out the big $$ for him.

yeah, it's a bit frustrating. both are easily worth their money if they can last for 16 games. i'm a bit surprised we didn't protect ourselves with playing time incentives.
