I don't really care about free agency. To reach Cream level and stay there you need truly elite players. They are seldom available in free agency, unless you break the bank. Otherwise, once you reach NFL level not many players are modest early in their career before surging to elite.
As always, I don't care about outliers. The internet is flooded with posters who scramble for outlier examples, as if they carry any relevance.
The draft process allows hidden gems. I'm forever amazed at how differently some of these guys look and perform once in an NFL uniform. Le'Veon Bell, for example, was a big plodding straight ahead runner at Michigan State, with just a hint of instincts and wiggle. I'm not sure I've ever seen a more amazing transformation.
We need to win the draft. Several times, hopefully consecutive. Truly special players, not stop gap fillers. One of the reasons we're stuck in Crowd irrelevancy, that mostly blend level between 6-10 and 10-6, is that so many premier picks from those late 2000s to early 2010s drafts did not pan out. They should be the core of your team right now.
