....was this bad? I have racked my brain trying to remember the last team that was recognized by all to be a playoff team, and quite a few to be a Super Bowl contender, do this badly. Anyone remember any specific teams recently that had expectations so high, yet sank this low? I really don't remember. I know there have been several who were regarded as possible playoff teams that didn't do so well, but that's fairly common. There is a HUGE difference in the expectations and results of the Dolphins.

Ask Pittsburgh that question. Or the Redskins. There are a lot of teams out there who are absolutely horrible, though their talent and past accomplishments don't mesh with that. It's our fault, as fans and media members who set the stage. Look at Seattle, Carolina, and Cincinnati - they're nowhere near the level they're capable of (and should be) at this point. I don't remember anyone screaming for the Chin to step down and resign (or be fired). The Patriots didn't go last year - outside of some positively loony people no one would dare question Belichecks ability. The job isn't to worry about expectations, it's about looking where we are, what we need to do to improve, and execute. Ignore the hate, we'll show em up.

It happens all the time, here are some from the last few years:

2005: Jets 4-12(though we had an amazing amount of injuries), Ravens 6-10, Buffalo 5-11, Philly 6-10(they had a ton of injuries too).

2004: KC 7-9, Car 7-9, Dallas 6-10.

2003: Pitt 6-10, Buf 6-10, Cle 5-11, Oak 4-12, Atlanta 5-11, Wash 5-11, NYG 4-12,

You over-answered the question, but thanks.

I wasn't really caught up in the pre-season hype, although I did anticipate playoffs. I realize their are alot of underachieving teams. That's a gimme. What I don't remember is a team that was as highly looked upon who was THIS bad.

Sorry :sidelol: I didn't mean to go overboard, just happened. Truth is, you could pick a ton of teams from this year alone and say they fit the bill. It's just our position as Dolphins fans that make it harder to deal with :(

This year's Cardinals

The Cardinals are bad every year. As much as i hate to say it we became this year's Buffalo Bills. They went 9-7 in 2004 and were supposed to be a sleeper team to watch out for. They had some injuries and they went 5-11 that year. I remember a sports writer saying we were going to be that team and i :sidelol: :sidelol: and did some more:sidelol: . Now i have to eat crow for the rest of the year...

I can eat crow if it'll hold me over till the steak gets here. Matter of fact, when we finally get back to the Superbowl, it'll be even better than can be imagined.

This years Cardinals team was picked to win their division by a few and thought of as sleepers. Now they look like a team that is going to fire their head coach.

2004 Dolphins

In the offseason that team had expectations but after Ricky quit and you had a few injuries those expectations flew out the window.
