When Pouncey returns, do we need him more at Guard or Center?

No...actually it's Mike Pouncey.....

But more importantly, he says if the Dolphins need him to play guard as a solution to the team’s epic problems at the position, he would do that.

“I would do it if I have to,” Pouncey said when I asked about the possibility. “I would do whatever the team needs to help us win.”

Pouncey is not pushing to be a guard. He’s a Pro Bowl-caliber center and has been all his professional career — with the exception of time he spent years ago working at guard in practice.

But Pouncey played guard full-time a couple of seasons when he was at the University of Florida and, most importantly, he’s at least open to the switch.

“I am a Pro Bowl center,” he said. “I’d be a Pro Bowl guard, too.”

Forget past threads, and if you do not want to re-visit the topic, ignore it. Pouncey has just said that he is willing to play guard to help the team. He added that he prefers center, is a Pro Bowl center but will be a Pro Bowl guard as well. This is something "new."

Many did not think he would want to make a change, and many thought Samson would be bad. Now, it's a different story worth discussing. JMO

Bro some here think it was that way before the injury so that is the way it should go back to regardless if we can put the best five offensive linemen on the field. Sometimes you need to step back and say as a whole what will make this team better and give us the best chance to kick ass and take names. Just think you could have two centers playing at the same time and being able to share with the line better and quicker what they see the defense is doing.

I was for in the first thread, and I havent changed my mind. I truely beleive Pouncey would be a better guard than center...

Hahaha, very nice. When have you ever heard of moving a pro bowl center to guard? Let alone in favor of leaving a journey's man at center? Please research and let me know how that works out. Everyone wants to win and I've always heard that you put your best players on the field. I see a lot of people with inflexible minds.
 
I honestly believe Pouncey has a tell in his snap that makes things easier for opposing defenses. I know some people think I'm nuts with that, but I honestly think there's something to it. The number of offsides penalties Miami has drawn with Pouncey at center vs Satele/Garner at center over the past 2 years tells the story, IMO.

I do think we should find a way to switch him over to guard, and if he's in our long-term plans we should find a way to do it without hurting his ego or earning potential.

Thank you for the civility and insight. But yeah lot of douchy posters/trolls here now. "Finheaven" or "Finhell?" People seem to forget what "forum" means and treat it instead as a psuedo "news flash." I just might have to consider your suggestion. Much thanks.

Guard is clearly our weakness, I think Satele has been playing good football, I'd plug Pouncey in at guard especially due to Smith's injury. To me the ideal OL looks like Albert-Smith-Satele-Pouncey-James. Gives our rookie RT more help, removes our weak guards. Colledge would start in the mean time until Smith is healthy who I think is stronger on the leftside anyway. That's our best OL to me without a doubt, we can't start Dallas multiple weeks, just can't.

Dehm, that sounds solid and rational. Well, if Adam Beasley is credible (on twitter, said Satele mentioned that he could have returned to the game), hopefully Satele isnt badly injured so we can try that. Pouncey pulling as a Guard would be a huge upgrade for our rush.
