When was the last time an NFL team traded away a QB that ended up doing good for the team he was traded too (im talking about older qbs like 28+).

We learned that AJ Feeley, Daunte Culppepper (at least last year), and Joey Harrington, were obviously not good enough to play on their old teams and thats why they were traded.

I hope we dont get Trent Green. He is old, hurt, and obviously not that great anymore, since Damon Huard has won his spot.

I agree with you, to an extent. Theres no doubt that there hasnt been a recent case of successful trading of QBs for the receiving team. However, I think theres an equally small number of cases where QBs have been traded to begin with. I can't seem to think of too many example where QBs are traded, especially ones that are brought in to start. So maybe it's not that it's always a bad idea, but rather we don't have enough examples to suggest otherwise. Of course, our own experiences with this (we seem to be the only team that does this) should give a heads up NOT TO DO IT AGAIN.

Tell that to Brett Favre.
I do not like the trade, not because of Green's age, but because his game is declining. Favre still has 1 or 2 more years. I really hope Trent does not come to Miami. I rather trade for David Carr, and even then, I would think it is a mistake.

Green isn't supposed to be our future. He would be a mentor to a younger guy

Yeah, but they didn't trade him. Actually that proves another point, you rarely find a successful QB in anything BUT the draft. How many of the guys starting today were picked up off the street or let go by other teams willingly. Not a boatload thats for sure. We gotta draft a QB.

Trent Green is nothing but an insurance policy guys. Read between the lines.

Has Mueller given you guys any reason to believe that he wants a 37 year old QB to be the future of the Miami Dolphins? Get with the program fellas.

The feeling I get is that Mueller wants to draft a QB and go into the offseason with 4 QBs. That is Mueller's history, it's what he does. He loads up on talent at a given position because it gives him room to maneuver.

With 4 QB's you have a ton of options- trades, cuts, starters, depth.

Honestly, do you guys actually have that big a problem adding talent to the ONE POSITION that has haunted us for the better part of a decade?

If I was talking about saftey most of you wouldn't mind drafting one in the first round for the next 3 drafts. WTF?

Culpepper, Green, Lemon, and perhaps Quinn/Stanton seems to me as a great start to trying to fix our Qb woes.

AND SHUT UP ABOUT CAP PLEASE. THE MONEY IS GOING TO BE SPENT MIGHT AS WELL SPLURGE AT THE MOST PLAGUED POSITION ON OUR SQUAD!

You're totally right about Green not being any team's future at QB but I'm not sure he's the sort of player who would be happy simply playing the 'mentor' role to a younger guy. He seems far too competitive to be happy paving the way for someone else to come in and take his job. Then again, I may well be wrong.

They'll realize it tomorrow. I promise. Stay up all night waiting for the news.

Wasn't Drew Bledsoe 30 years old when the Patriots traded him to Buffalo in 2002? If I'm not mistaken, Bledsoe threw for over 4000 yards that year.

Last year, didn't Tennessee trade Steve McNair to Baltimore who led them to a 13-3 record.

Sometimes a QB is let go or traded not because they cannot play any longer but because the team is either going in another direction or they want to give the younger QB a chance to play. That is what happened to Bledsoe in NE and it has happened to other QBs.
