Let me start by saying. I like Daunte and I hope he thrives here in Miami. With that said: "Hypothetically" If Daunte goes into a slide do you feel Saban will do what gives the "team" the best chance in benching him or does he take the Wanny way out and ride him all the way into the ground? Not looking to start a fight just looking for discussion.

Saban will bench him in a heartbeat.

If our record were to be like 1-7 or 2-6 then he would bence him but that record is highly unlikely.

I agree with that. That being said, I would bet my entire manhood that the Fins will no get as bad as 2-6. We'll get this fixed guys, remember, this team was 9-7 last year with Frerotte and Rosenfels. I think we can all agree that Pep is a tad better than those two.

Sorry - this topic has already gotten beat to death - check back a page or 2 for the "short leash" Thread. :)

I'm not among the kool-aid drinkers or true believers regarding Daunte "the savior". He has been a very good QB. However after his poor showing last year and injury - expectations are TOO high. I feel bad for Daunte with all the HYPE.

Still he *IS* our Starting QB. The decision to Start him in Week 1 may have been a bad one, after admitting he's still not 100% it seems Saban was talked into this and I suspect the team Marketing people had influence.

But NOW they have committed - there is NO WAY Daunte gets even questioned for at least 3 more games... look at the schedule. We are playing three winnable games. He would have to play clearly bad for his teammates to feel he's hurting their chances.

I think Harrington's strong showing in pre-season influenced the decision to start Daunte in Week 1. Just my theory that's all. Political correctness. He has shown he is ready to take over, WHEN and if necessary. Obviously they are trying to avoid a QB Controversy.

I don't agree with that. Frerotte did not have a game last year that was as bad as CP's last game.

I swear some of you guys make me ****in sick!! Whats the purpose of this dumb *** thread?

Thats why Gus carried Dauntes clipboard in Minny right

How about the Atlanta game? Throwing an INT at the 5 yard line? What about the Bills game where he couldnt put a point on the board (we did get a field goal)

Are you kidding me? Gus Frerotte flat out cost us games against Buffalo, New York and Atlanta.

yeah the gus game against buffalo was amazing lol

daunte is going to be the comeback player of the year and lead miami to at least a 11-5 record bank on it

Some people apparently dont understand the diffrence between a bad game and a bad 3 minutes. Dauntes play wasnt spectacular, but he was effective all game. It wasnt until the last two botched attempts at a comeback tht he played poorly.

Its also not fair to put it all on DC considering the Steelers KNEW it was gonna be a pass 90% of the time. It was rediculous how early we abandoned the run.

I think you need to go back and re watch the game. And stop being paranoid that we wont be a competetive team. We looked good up until the last 5 minutes.

im gonna say something that is true but will pis# some people off.
i dont think there is anyway that culpepper gets benched,as long as he doesnt completely fall apart every week.
its the same reason that none of the national sport shows will say anything to negative about him.
i know he had a great 04 season but that will only carry him so far, this will carry him alittle farther.
some wont agree but race is the reason im talking about.
its the same reason why some hate him and its the reason some love him.
i could care less what color he is but i do belive it is harder to bench a black qb for a white one than it is the outher way.
to much pc will buy him extra time, that and his past stats will make it hard for him to be benched.
so lets get behind dc because he is our starter for better or worse:dolphins:

Great post Jimi. It was bad how early we abbonded the run game, but I don't blame the coaching staff for that. Our Oline flat out didn't allow us to run. But yeah Daunte was good for 55 minutes and put us in a position to win the game IMO.

Saban didn't yank Frerotte after Rosenfels insane comeback against Buffalo when the season was pretty much toast, so i doubt he will pull Culpepper.
