When will Peyton Manning be released?

imo i see indy releasing peyton either on tuesday or wednesday 6th or the 7th i dont see them waiting till the last min because that would be more of an insult to Manning instead of being to think it will help the fan base .so imo look for the release tuesday or wednesday.

As today Indianapolis FO is working right on his PR and is in negotiations to rework Manning's contract. According to NFL.com, the team must inform him if they don't want to pay a 28 million bonus, but the deadline for cutting him or paying him is Friday 9th, 4:00 PM ET.
So his agent could know about 20 hours earlier but regular people won't know for sure until that instant.

Thus because even when Peyton expressed he wants to keep playing in Indy and retire as a Colt, those were simple words.
Also Colts have expressed gratitude fro Manning but they started a rebuilding process that includes Andrew Luck.

So I assume Peyton won't accept to hold a clipboard and would prefer to play in a team with championship chances. Manning could accept a significant pay-cut, but won't accept to be a bench-warmer just to stay in Indy.

In fact they could.

As first round rookies' salaries moved from top money (close to 13 millions/season) to manageable numbers (close to 4 millions/season), there's a chance they could sign both.

It's more a matter of slowing the rebuilding process.

Well, technically any team could sign any 2 players. They would just need to gut the team to do so. The Colts have been experiencing cap issues all year. They'll have enough problems keeping Manning let alone add a 5M + bonuses rookie QB on the bench.

The list above shows the team at 88M with the 33 listed guys. Mathis just signed a 36M/4yr contract. Throw in Luck's 5M contract + bonuses and the team is sitting at 102-105M (assuming they don't do any financial wizardry of backloading contracts that will eventually catch up with them again) with 35 players. They'll have about 20M to put 18 guys on the roster. That might sound doable until you see the list of UFA's they're losing at the bottom: Saturday, Diem, Garcon, Gonzalez, Tamme, Wayne. Replacing these guys won't be cheap.

Technically the league has to be notified of his being cut before 4:00pm on the 8th. The contracts likely states "if he is on the Colts roster as of ___ date" which would mean the end of the league business day...

Irsay is usually blabbing on Twitter. He has become very quiet. I wonder if they are in negotiations to keep Manning and he has been "Gagged".
