I keep hoping to see that Miami has finally decided to go old-school with the o-line, running game, and defense, and added to that a Marino-esque vertical passing game. I'm waiting to see them be able to run for a 1st down on 3rd and short no matter how many defenders are in the box. I want to see the QB have enough time to tie his shoes before throwing that 50 yard TD pass. I want opposing offenses to soil their pants when they see Miami on the schedule.
Unfortunately, most people seem to like this trend of short pass based offenses and the move away from smash-mouth football and the deep ball. I'll just have to wait until Miami's powers-that-be actually take notice to what's going on and see that this style of offense and their not-so-physical defense just went 1-5 in their Division and were swept by both the Bills and the Jets. When I heard that Gase wants a short pass based offense it was like getting a knife in the back moments after pulling out the last one (Philbin). So, I will keep coming here hoping to read news of a new Head Coach with a completely different philosophy.
