Has anyone noticed that none of our Linebackers except for Zach Thomas are making any plays?

Did Crowder play against Tampa Bay? Are Hodge and Newman still on the team? What about Pope?

It seems, at this point, that our defense have regressed from where it was last year. We are getting absolutely no pressure on the opposing QBs and the secondary looks decent to terrible.

Is Capers the reason for the regression?

i dont know how it regressed outside of out secondary not looking great so far. Crowder played against Tampa and looked damn good to me. the biggest problem with out LBs is blitzing. Outside of Keith Newman, no one has been good at rushing the passer...but with JT and David Bowens playing some OE, we will be OK with rushing the passer from that position.

pope had a forced fumble against the bucs.
Newman had a sack.
Crowder and zach look great.
Haven't seen anything out of spragan, but to be deadly honest, its gonna be hard to get tackles because he'll have to beat Zach to the ball carrier

I do think that the pass rush didn't really get to Tampa Bay that much aside from Dan Wilkinson. This is where i think another pass rushing outside linebacker is going to come in. Hopefully from the things Kevin Greene was teaching about blitzing the players will get better at it.

We got 3 sacks last night, we only got one in our 1st game last year. So, I don't think its fair to say we have regressed. At least not yet.

Honestly, there have been alot of threads recently but this might be the worst.

Have you actually watched any of the games? Byron Leftwich was getting hit on pretty much every play in the first game.

It's preseason. Do you understand that there is very little in terms of gameplanning and vanilla defenses are generally called yet?

give them time we will be much better when only our starters are on the field and when we hit the serious regular season games. i dont think their is to much to worry about as of right now

I think there needs to be a disclaimer that in the preseason the coaches aren't necessarily playing the defense to shut everyone down and fire on all cylinders, they're tinkering with new things, trying to evaluate how certain players work in certain situations and generally looking at things that we, as fans, have very little appreciation for. For instance the offensive line was working on a silent snap count early on against the Bucs. We're watching these games as if they matter, the coaches are more using them to evaluate personnel and tinker.

OMG another panic thread! If the Fins could score as many touchdowns as we see panic threads, we'd have the #1 offense in the NFL!

I watched both games twice, thought our LB play was pretty solid. Don't expect that much from them in preseason, since they're running mostly plain vanilla stuff.

Their not game planning, yet! It will be okay.
