Ok, so I was just on the Miami Dolphins official website earlier, and I was on the roster page. I scrolled through it and I noticed there were a few players missing on it that I weren't aware of not being on the team any longer. Besides knowingly that Lance Schulters was probably not going to return to the team, I noticed that Jason Glenn, Lester Towns were not on there either. I also did notice that Matt Sinclair is on our roster along with Mike Labinjo. So my question that sorta ties into this is, where does our Linebacker core stand in terms of the depth chart? Aside from the fact that we still need another LB to replace Seau, even though we signed Sedrick Hodge, however, the depth chart shows that Sedrick is playing SAM along with Spragan being there as well. I'm sure the answer to that is another thread. So if anyone would like to share their perception of what the Linebacker Depth Chart should look like, please feel to share! :D

There will be a chance Hodge takes Spragan's spot as Seau's replacement IF nobody else is signed. But obviously we could use someone who is a proven starter to take that role.I think Arrington would fill the role nicely so long as too much is not asked of him in terms of scheme.Spragan, from what I understand is the smartest in that respect.I just don't see him playing as an every down type of guy.He is very effective situationally.I like him alot in certain schemes.I just hope either we sign a guy who can start all the time,or Hodge is coachable and can fill that role.New Orleans fans seem to think that he is athletic but gets beat by tight ends in coverage, but we do have to remember that New Orleans had a terriblr LB unit and Hodge was a replacement for an injured played if I am not mistaken. From what I understand,he is a sure drag down tackler and with youth on his side, maybe Saban can turn him into a consistant solid starter. On Labinjo,I think he is more of a mike LB.I am not sure why he was signed other than to fill space after seeing Glenn and Towns drop off the roster. He might not be around after the initial cuts through camp unless he is better than I think he is.Important to have a guy that can play mike because of what happened last year when Zack needed to heal and Crowder had to take his place for a while.I think it will be a major plus to have some depth there.

Labinjo is a run stopper we will see him on short yardage

SLB- Donnie Spragen/Sedrick Hodge
MLB- Zach Thomas/Derrick Pope/Mike Libinjo
WLB- Channing Crowder/Eddie Moore/Matt Sinclair(NFL-Europe)

Seau was let go for cap reasons while Glenn, Towns, and Nick Rogers are all UFA's which we have neither signed nor seem to have interest, at this point, in re-signing.

Actually Crowder is taking Seau's place for now with Spragen and Hodge fighting it out for the SLB. If we draft a WLB expect to see Crowder moving back to SLB as after Thomas he is our best remaining LB.

Actually it goes like this...Seau used to be on the weakside but Nick switched him to Strong-side in TC and Crowder took over the weak side. Then when seasu went down with injury Spragan took over his spot at strongside...

Yeah, I think you're right with that one. I do hope that we can fulfill the depth chart enough to where we have a strong unit that can replace one another incase there are some injuries throughout the course of the season. I'm not sure about Labinjo being on the roster for 06' in its entirety. However, I think I could see Hodge rotating in & out with Spragan. If we could pick up to 2 more LB's preferrably at "Sam" and possibly another "Will". I think they should be in good shape. I was really hoping that we could have gotten Julian Peterson out of the group of guys that were available at the time. Primarily, because Peterson knows Saban from Michigan State and he could be easily coached into the defensive schemes.

they are not on the roster because they are free agents

Well, Hodge is the far better pass coverage guy, and Spraghan is more of a run stuffer...unless there is an upgrade or change from what we have now, my guess would be that they will be situational guys with Spraghan starting on running downs...Hodge would play more based on the offense we face...But Spraghan might get the nod to more playing time because Saban and Caper's first priority is to stop the run... Hodge, however might be the better of the two...

I was mildly surprised that Saban hasn't brought Glenn back, but he may be looking for a more steady place to play...he is a heck of a STer, but really lacks in LB skill compared to those we already have...
