you know , I was thinking which is a dangerous pastime . WE have threads of the top 10 wrs , rb,s ect.... but what about tightends.

I will list my ten favorite tightends and you guys can tell me where you would rank them.

#1 Marv Fleming
#2 Keith Jackson
#3 Bruce Hardy
#4 Jim Mandich
#5 Ferrell Edmunds
#6 Jim Mandich
#7 Joe Rose
#8 Randy McMichael
#9 Anthony Fasano
#10 Jed Weaver

honerary mentions
Desmond Clark
Ed Perry
Hunter Goodwin

this isnt ranked in terms of who was the best but a list of players that I enjoyed watching. Fasano will Move upafter this season.
I also put Desmond Clark on here because he made big plays but Wanny let him go and he kept Weaver

I would go...

1. Keith Jackson
2. Bruce Hardy
3. Marv Fleming
4. Jim Mandich
5. Ferrell Edmunds
6. Randy McMichael

Fasano would fit in somewhere after that.

he's got a legit shot to be at the top of the list

Good list! I'd put Troy Drayton at #10 instead of Weaver. Weaver was a good redzone target but Drayton was much more athletic.

I really think Anthony Fasano can climb that list really fast. He just needs to keep working and improving like he's done ever since he's been here. I knew he was special when I watched him play at Notre Dame.

I would agree with that list. I think McMichael could be much have been much higher but poor coaching screwed him.

It wasn't bad coaching that screwed McMichael. It was a case of too many drops and his off field incidents with his girlfriend.

The guy had all the talent but just couldn't put it all together. He had too many mental lapses.

I agree with you but at the same time i think McMicheal could thrive in an offense like this that makes good use of the tight ends. I mean we're going to use our WRs more this year because we have more weapons but i also think the mismatches we can create with our tight ends are going to help. Nice Gif. by the way....

McMichael was vastly overrated by so many folks. Couldn't catch a pass to save his life, and he wasn't that great of a blocker either. Oh, and there is that whole thing of him being a wife beating scumbag.

As for Fasano, he has only had one season here so it's really hard to rank him at this point. Then again, it's not like the Dolphins have a truly "illustrious" history at TE versus other positions on the team. I believe that if Fasano plays the way we all know he's capable of playing, he could go down as the best TE in Dolphins history. It's saying alot, but I believe he can be that good.

If fasano plays 9 or 10 more years with the phins at the same level he played last year i would rank him up there #1 or #2...............................

I see a lot of Jim Jensen in this years Dolphins. Players that will do whatever is asked. Jensen was DA MAN. Not the best athlete on the field, but made crucial third downs, could block, and played great ST. Oh and a backup QB too. Imagine Jensen in the Wildcat as a receiver with the threat to take a pitch and pass! One of my favorite Fins ever.

Wilford needs to watch Jensen tapes if he wants to be a real H-back.

Completely inane post from me here (as usual) but that reminded me I had a dream the other night that Randy McMichael played a season for the Phins where he caught about ninety balls for over a thousand yards and about ten TDs. What a waste of a dream. My unconscious mind could be put to much better use. I had completely forgotten about it until reading this.

A fair few of the better TEs Miami has had over the years seem to have split their years between a few different teams. Although there have been productive players over the years, there doesn't seem to have been one dominant pass catching TE who has played his whole career (or a lot of years) at a high level in Miami. No Todd Christiensens or Ben Coates(es?) to be found, as far as I can tell. Am I completely wrong? If I am, it'll be neither the first or last time.

What was it all about really with McMichael. I'm thinking it all just went to his head too quickly. One minute the guy was setting the world on fire then all of a sudden he just became lazy and unfocused, dropping footballs, missing blocks. I'm not sure he was really all that good to begin with.

Ferrell Edmunds was a guy I really thought would be a star and he was for a moment, when Keith Jackson came to town it was all over for him.

A guy who really doesn't belong on the list but was a Marino target was Greg Baty. He sure did get open often and made some nice plays for us at the position.

As far as Fasano goes I'm excited to see him again this year. Big target in the middle of the field. Not sure he belongs on the list just yet we still have to wait and see. I like most of you hope he turns into Mark Bavaro. That would be great. Nonetheless Fasano was a steal.

Wow, Bruce Hardy #3 ???

Im a little bias but i know moore of him apperantly then anyone on this board.

He holds all the records for a Miami TE. Which includes i believe 21 td catches, i'm not sure but it's like over double the TD's of Randy McMichael's He had very good hands and he was and was one of the best blocking TE"s and would be so even in today's NFL.

Does anyone remember the Cleavland playoff game. He totally took it over, they had no answer for him. I think he caught 4 in that one alone. He also caught are first TD in the superbowl back in 84.

Ok this should persaude you. He was also listed on the roster as our 3rd QB.

Like i said im a lil bias, but if your talkin TE's IMO he was the best.
