OK, I justed want to get everyone's opinion about Miami's line and where they rank in the league. I think they rank in the bottom 1/4 of the league. It would be easy to get caught up in how good they have played this year in comparison to last year and get over-zealous and say we are in the top 1/2 or whatever. Taking into consideration that we definetly need a new center, and the inconsistencies at all other spots, the pre-snap mental errors, the holding penalties that have taken away positive plays, the fact that the line hasn't really dominated, or dictated a game (until possibly Tennessee), how often our RBs were stopped for a loss or no gain, and how often our QBs had pressure in their faces faster than they could even blink. OK, so I named all the negative stuff. The positive is that we played alot better than last year. But where does that really rank us this year when compared to the other 29 teams? What do you guys think?

EDIT: OK, I'm going to back up and say the bottom 1/3. I thought about it a little more and decided they aren't as bad as being at the bottom 1/4. But I don't think they are good enough to move up any further than that, IMO.

Mid. Our pass block is awesome, but our run block could be better. If we get a center like LeCharles Bentley, it would be greatly improved. Our penalties have also improved.

Wow, I'm definetly in the minority on this one. This makes me curious though: If our line is truly this good, why is most people screaming for numerous changes and why, too, does the Dolphins front office seem so fixed on making changes? If our line is truly middle of the pack, why would we make many changes at all, instead just keep coaching them up?
We definetly have to have a new center and a new LT. These two spots are very weak. These two spots are also the most important spots on the O-line.

I gave them a little more credit than you SCall. Bottom 1/3

I think we're maybe in the upper middle of the league. But we're improving tremendously. We're in the top 10 in the NFL for yards per carry, top 10 in least sacks. Only ones ahead of us include Seattle, Indy, KC, Atlanta, Cincinnati, and others. All of whom have elite lines. OL takes at least 2-3 seasons before it can become very well and can at least avoid most penalties. D-Mac's a decent LT for now. But I wouldn't mind keeping D-Mac and McKinney as reserves.

Bottom 1/4.

We leave our backs and TE in to help a lot. We also play call to help avoid the sacks. Often running two man patterns on our deep patterns off of play action. All of this helps with pass blocking.

Run blocking we leave a lot to be desired on push at the point of attack.

Lastly, we are upper third in penalites from our OL on the year. Houck has helped a ton, but the talent is just not there right now.

Hadnot does not have the agility to be a top-flight G. He should be a backup as well as McKinney. McIntosh is a decent stop gap, but not a top-tier guy.

I'd put them around 26th or so in the league with only a few of the bad teams worse.
