With the cap likely staying at 94.5 million this year, our hopes of signing some big name players has likely dropped a lot, but how bad are we going to be? Are we going to be able to sign a veteran QB like McNair or Brees?

Also, a snippet from ESPN.com I found rather disturbing:

Miami cut left tackle Damion McIntosh, saving $3.8 million against the cap, and former Pro Bowl cornerback Sam Madison. The Dolphins are a prime example of a team that needs a new labor agreement: They are estimated to be about $9 million over a $95 million cap.

How the hell are we supposed to get under the cap and then make some signings? Are we going to have to cut some big contracts? I'm freaking out here!!!!!!!!

What happened? 2 weeks ago all I saw here was how the Dolphins were gonna be 20 mil UNDER the cap.

im so sick of all this panic mode stuff....

I asked a question and I have the freedom to do so. If you're going to continue to make unconstructive, arrogant remarks like that, do it elsewhere you disrespectful little clown.

because of no new CBA their is 10 mil less in cap room

With the moves we already made if there was a new CBA we would be aproximatly 8 Mil under right now, with more moves to make

mcnair is out of the question, tenn cut their OT(his name escpaes me) specifically to come up with the $$ to retain mcnair. i still believe brees is a possibility, though the rest of the forum will lead you to believe the moon is about to turn blood red and the 4 horsemen will be galloping across the sky shortly

I don't know about 20 mil UNDER but without a new CBA which would have put the cap at 105-110 mil (est) plus the 10 mil incentive for having a winning season we ended up being 20 mil OVER!

The vets on the team will step up....the first one to restructure or get cut is Jeno James...he is ok ...but way to high of a salary....his restructuring will save about 1.5 to 2 million, cater about 1 million, zach and jt combined about 4 million...and finally we have Seau...cut ties saves about 2.5 million....ladies that's close to 10 million...say hello to Drew brees!

McNair has resigned with The Texans so he's not available without a trade. So I don't see him coming here this year. Brees is still an option but he may only want a one year contract because of the upcoming UNCAPPED 2007 season.
There's no need to freak out...atleast not yet. j/k Let's wait and see what happens before we start pushing the panic button.

The league just pushed back the start of FA 3 days, so there may yet be hope for a new CBA.

Well, now it leaves us in a hold pattern through the weekend since the NFL has come out and extended the start of free agency 3 days.

Actually Jeno James probably wont be cut... because his cap saving is only 300,000 USD not 2 million. His salary is 2.5 million... but b.c of his signing bonus we paid out... Dolphins would get with with a cap hit of 2.2 million...
so we probably just keep him on the team.... If we release him... and sign a free agent OL would cost more than the cap savings of 300k.

Would only be released to provide cap relief in 2007...
