Sure, Daunte is struggling, but one thing we do know about the guy is he throws one of the best deep balls in the league. Yet, he didn't throw it deep once, not even with CC, a guy who we all know can go up and get it. At least try and stretch the defense a little. It makes absolutely no sense.

Where's the deep ball? Ask our horrible offensive line (offensive line? How fitting!). We stink so badly right now that we could pick up 5 300 pound slobs from any bar or couch in the country and they'd be better at blocking than the current crop of non-existent jackass we have setting the tone for the game. We can line Culpepper up 12 yards deep, have all of the linemen sit, and we'd have better results than the absolute garbage we're putting on the field right now.

The play calling has been bad by Murlarkey. I don't see any bootlegs or misdirection plays either.

You need time to throw deep he had a stampede in his face every play.

Every play? You exaggerate, there were opportunities to go deep. CPep did complete over 20 passes. Besides, I'm not talking about anything complicated here. Just go back, no need to read the defense, and let it rip. Our offense was going nowhere. Why not try to complete a long one that will change momentum, or maybe even get a penalty. No question Linehan would have tried to go deep with the offense struggling like that.

Exactly, the Steelers are one thing, but playing against two rookie safeties...our coaching is also to blame for this loss. I'd also love to see what the oline guru hudson houck is doing with the shmucks i saw sunday.

There's only so much polishing a turd before things start to get messy.

No doubt! They need to set up some mid to long range timong routes to make sure DC doesn't have to go back and think he makes 1 or 2 reads and then throws to the best option. I almost looked like he was scared to throw at times. As accurate as he is with the long ball and with chambers is it really that hard to put the ball on the outside shoulder away from the defender and see what happens. I missed the first game but it sounded like DC just made one or two bad decisions that cost him but after watching this one it looks like he's just to tenative and INdecisive to make things happen. He is the opposite of fiedler who knew where he wanted to go but just couldn't get it there. DC can get it there but doesn't know or can't decide where to get it.

DC has had time to throw. Not every play has he been running for his life. If you only send two guys out on a pattern, 4 DB's can cover that, rookies or not. DC has been holding the ball too long and has been taking shots at his own fault. Again not every play, but a few.

WHERE IS RANDY MOSS? I saw Moss adjust to Pep's deep ball almost every time. Ask a Vike fan how many times the ball was actually behind Moss and Moss would stop and grab it w/ his inside hand behind the db. He was not hit instride that often.

I believe the coaches are trying to keep it simple early, so he can learn to read progressions! Easy, simple progressions so he can develop, and hit the deep ball when he needs to.

I have thought the same thing however, give it a shot at least. When he did throw deep, it was a lofty ball that was short and should have been an int. Pep can thank CC for breaking it up as best he could.

I saw at least one deep ball...it was down the sideline, but incomplete. Chambers also ran a reverse.

i dont know what you guys are looking at. first, daunte is holding onto the ball way too long. 3 secs. thats what you need from the o line and without counting the plays i'll bet you they gave daunte atleast 3 secs to throw on 3/4 of the passing plays. you cant ask for much more than that. sure, there were plays they got beat. do you not watch any other football? this is common on every team in the nfl.
second, the reason that we didnt go deep is because buffalo played 2 deep safeties 90% of the time yesterday. when they came out of it, the down/distance/situation was not one where you can afford to chuck one up. that's why they came out of it. please do everyone a favor and understand what is going on before you try to talk about it.

I'll tell you where Moss is. He's with Oakland and I believe he doesn't even have 100 yds. receiving in 2 games. Without a QB who can throw deep, he seems average. Let's just say they fed off each other.

Why couldn't it be afforded exactly?
