where or when did this team loose its winning ways?

I agree. IMO I felt we were good enough to win it all but his coaching killed us.

Very true, and not only was his coaching bad, I also remember his drafts were horrendous. (Eddie Moore and Jamar Fletcher to name a couple)

I would say the wanny/speilman years due to horrible drafting imo. No team can recover from such wasted personal decisicions those two clowns made. I have to disagree with some on here as far as I think Ireland has done a pretty decent job of drafting since here. Don't get me wrong I don't always agree with his priority list I personally wanted us to draft matt ryan, thinking qb was a higher priority but he nailed it on jake. Last draft I would have liked to have seen him grab a qb even if it were mallett. IMO overall he has found us some gamers and we have been more productive in the draft than we have been in a long time, We will be rooting for some of his guys long after he is gone.

I remember when Miami had the best W-L percentage of any major sports franchise, and when we had our second losing season in like 30 years (7-9), proud it was, proud I was. Maybe it started after the perfect season when Jake Scott cursed the team to never win another SB because Shula traded the SB MVP to the Redskins. For me the real decline started when young Tom Brady replaced Drew Bledsoe and found Troy Brown on a TD bomb which propelled NE out of the AFC East pack to date and propelled the Dolphins the other way. Since then there have been some scrappy teams led by guys like Taylor, Thomas, and Williams. There have been many decisions good and bad since then but it sucks having the Patriots in our division because they are so well run. The Dallases, and Oaklands every year fall all over each other to give NE extra future draft picks ad-nauseum; why should they care, they're not in our division. We used to be the best run organization in the division, now we are not. Nevertheless I am still proud. Unlike Cincy, Detroit, Cleveland, and other perrennial doormats, the Dolphins have tried to keep some continuity even as coaches have left and they have not sold the farm for a Ryan Leaf. Now that our offensive philosophy has joined the 21st century, I think we can build our way back up with good decisions, continuity, hard work, and a little luck!

Oh and some (more) patience.

Screw You Jake Scott.
