Several national pundits are pointing toward the Dolphins drafting or upgrading in free agency on defense because of the age of our defense.

I understand that, though we do have some young guys in the wings. But, personally, I think we need to seek out multiple picks on offense.

In fact, I would not mind seeing us trying to trade down a few slots and we might still get a decent player (OL or WR, imo) and pick up another 1st day pick. Teddy Ginn is a guy I really like - he has some great speed and can be a KR/PR while developing into the WR spot. But, it's a good possibility he'll be there between the 12-15 slots. It may depend on his 40 time if he really shows incredible speed, that could change. Of course, we might take a shot at a WR in free agency.

But, I think we need to emphasize offense throughout the day, with maybe one defender on day one.

Same in free agency.

I really don't care. Get me the best players possible.

I think this year is probably a golden opportunity to trade up if RM and the new coach see somebody they think is head and shoulders over what will be available at #9. I think it's going to be a pretty deep draft, so teams will be looking to trade down and will therefore not be able to get much to do so.

Does anyone know of any early draft boards I could check out?

We don't need to be too hysterical in chasing down problems with the secondary. Jason Allen should mature into a good player back there next year. I'd say you really only need to make one good change back there to have a good unit. Of course, I did just say I don't care where the talent is -- give it to me. If there are two or thee defensive backs the team can bring in and that's the best way to spend the money/picks, that's what should happen.

Offensive Line and Defensive Line

I like what we have in Carey, Shelton (at guard), and Hadnot, but LT and LG need to be solidified.

I think defensive line should be a priority. The pieces we have now are aging and expensive. The only young gun that gave us a glimpse at potential was Roth.

Our secondary is trash. That's where the biggest need is.
Agreed. Only 8 interceptions last year as a team is ridiculous. I think free agency is the way to go there though.

I would like us to draft Levi Brown at #9 if Calvin Johnson, Gaines Adams and Alan Branch are gone (which they probably will be).

I think it best to draft the best talent available. We have passed over too much talent over the years by drafting with blinders on. Anquan Boldin could be a dolphin right now if we didn't draft positions first and talent second. Draft top talent and use FA to fill our other holes. A few years down the road we should be in a good position.

The defense is young enough to get the job done for the next couple years. People talk about how old they are and everything but we still had a top ranked D this year, their playing isn't going to deminish over night. We will know when they are losing their ability by the performance they give us. To this point I have no reason to question their ability to get the job done.

On the other hand, the offense has proved time and time again that they cant get the job done. I dont know if its as much personel as the system that they have been stuck in, hopefully this year we will be able to explore that a little more.

I have a hard time evaluating players on our offense because I think the system has been that bad. For example, last year when Chambers started being put in the correct place for him to excel he did.

I think our needs will be come more obvious after next year, this year I go with BPA though the whole draft. We have capable personel at every position, the draft and FA this year should only be for upgrading. If we can get a much better person on the OL for next year by all means do it, but if we arn't upgrading the skill level then leave it alone.

i think we need to get better at oline and WR and get younger at DL.
I would like to see one or 2 oline men picked up in FA with maybe a Decent CB. then draft a wr and maybe another oline men and then get the rest Defence

We should sign an elite LB and CB (Thomas, Briggs, Samuel, Clements), draft a NT or DT and hope Manny Wright returns, a cheap DE in the lower rounds, use our top picks on offense (QB, LT, WR), try a shot at signing Steinbach, and sign a mid-level WR in FA.

Ted Ginn Jr baby, so far mock drafts have him slipping beyond 9 but not too far. Let's hope he doesn't catch fire like Jay Cutler did last year.

2 huge free agent aquisitions- Clements or Samuels / Steinback or Adelius Thomas

OL with pick 2
LB with pick 3
DL with pick 4
OL with pick 6
CB with pick 7

Pray Daunte Culpepper comes back healthy and motivated.

This team is looking pretty darn good.

Our secondary is trash. That's where the biggest need is.

And guess what? Asante Samuel and Nate Clemets are both UFA's. Throw a boatload of money at one of them. The draft's focus needs to be on offense.
