The biggest complaint I've heard about Ronnie is his hesitation or p***y footing around on some running plays. This exact same "complaint" is what lead to at least 3 of his longer runs last night. If he just hits the hole as some expect him to do on every rush attempt, then those particular plays don't develop the way they did. Is he too tentative sometimes? Yes, absolutely. But nobody says anything when Ricky is too aggressive and just runs into the pile for a 2 yard gain. The same thing that makes both backs great, also works to their detriment at times.
I'm not saying Ronnie is an elite back. We may never know because he is severely limited within the framework of the offense at times. I'm not even suggesting that he's top 5. What I think differentiates Ronnie from every other back in the NFL is that he is the most complete. Period. Ronnie is a better blocker than any FB (except for Kiick and even that's debatable) we've ever had. Yes, I said ever. There certainly isn't a better blocking running back in the league. He has terrific hands and is severely underutilized in the passing game. Then of course there's what we drafted him for, he's a great running back.
