Sparano or Ireland?

Why wouldn't you sign a guard (Brian Waters or Shaun O'Hara) AND tackle (Max Starx)? And why wouldn't they be proactive and have a plan b in place in case Carey & Colombo don't work out?
Is it pride? They don't want to admit that they made a mistake?
We don't have time to experiment anymore. Why wouldn't you bring in the guard now in case we need him.

Pride is getting in the way of basic sound business decisions. I just want to know who is responsible for the right side of our O line. Who owns that strategy? Sparano or Ireland?

:rolleyes2:

O'hara was apparently out of shape for his "interview". IMO they are waiting on the final roster trim downs to see what or who shakes loose. if no one worth bringing shakes loose they'll bring in some of these guys everyone else has been discussing.

how much time you got??? murtha is showing the entire league that he can't handle strength...matter of time before elite edge rush speed gets him too...careys gonna get eaten up by dts who are quick off the ball and he can't move laterally...incog is not bad when he's asked to block straight ahead or play in a straight line but he's a woeful move player...colombo looks like he belongs nailed up in a corn field to fend off birds... erect no knee bend can't move at all

we are putting on tape for teams the kind of stuff that will have dcs and dlinemen licking their chops on game day

and no need to move the safeties back if there's no time to throw deep
it is mind-boggling that after all the $, time and effort they have spent on the O-line, it is still so weak

Who is ultimately responsible? Sparano.

He has shown to play favoritism and has shown he will throw players under the bus. By now, Ireland has more then provided him with enough talent to get the line straight. It still isn't.

Back in '09 centers were the hot thing in free agency. The top 2 were Matt Birk and Jason Brown. Instead, we went after Jake Grove. Why? Because Sparano fell in love with the guy while in Dallas during the draft.

Again, its Ireland's job to provide the talent and Sparano's job to coach it. But can anyone honestly say that Ireland hasn't provided enough players for Sparano to mold? Its no coincidence that every year we have a new starting line. Sparano keeps trying to "tweak it" and the last 2 years it has lead to horrific results. New doesn't equal better. And because of Sparano's inability to coach up the position we end up overspending(or overdrafting) on players, while other teams are able to secure the position with relative ease.
