Most of you and fans from other teams have indicated Taylor is no longer suited to play corner. Howard had a rough nite, but might play better in nickel scheme. I actually think Eiland played ok, and has potential. He was actually the fastest db out. Mitchell might be the fastest overall, but likely will not contribute this year. I was actually more concerned with safety play than corner play. Richard did get burned, but the safety was extremely slow getting over (Bua). I actually thought Richard hustled and played well for only being here a short time. He was better than some of the guys on the roster last year.
It is my humble opinion that Edwards should be cut. Give a younger player an opportunity. Where as I would say give Howard a few more opportunities, I can not say that for him.
I didn't see enough of Roundtree to get an opinion on him; same for Parker (did make a good special teams play). Sam showed his weakness in run support, but in all fairness he was on a blitz when the rb got past him and he could not change pace to get him. Daniels was a step slow, but you expect that in the first pre-season game. The major concern I would have would be finding another option other than Edwards. I predict he will not make the team, but the question is who else will.
One note on safety play. Bell and Tillman did ok but there is some serious issues with blown coverage and not getting over. Corners were on islands last nite. Safety play was ok over middle on tight ends, but not too good in offering help. The Bears struggled with this as well leading me to think it might be more the norm for the first game.
One other observation. Poor pressure on the quarterback did more than anything to expose secondary weakness.
