Where will the dolphins offense rank this year?

Total offense is what it is...TOTAL OFFENSE. That stat is more improtant. Our special teams and defense scored a ton of points for us last season.

The points listed are *offensive points*, not *total points*.

Nobody said "total offense" before you got here, did they? Somebody asked where the offense would rank, and I answered in terms of points because points are obviously a lot more important than yards are in football. You incorporated my estimate in your answer and decided I was speaking of the stat you like.

I'll point out again that it doesn't matter except in terms of me chiding you about Bills knowledge. Look at Houston. We have done more than they did.

Didn't your own Bills go from 30th to 7th with a coaching change and a change at RB?

I welcome fans of all three inferior NFC East teams here because I know site administration likes it that way, but I have to suggest you might want to bone up on your own *recent team history*, man.

NFC East? I don't see many Giant, Cowboy, Eagle and Redskin fans around here. Anyways, it's not the same team as last year. We have different players like McDougle, Brown, Ferotte, maybe Ricky. Also we have a totally different coaches and a different playbook so there is no way you can compare last season to this season regardless of who is throwing the ball. Just looking other teams on paper I felt like we ranked about 24th because of last year but not knowing what teams who are better on paper do worse this year I gave the dolphins between 17 and 24 in the rankings. I put the Bills actually one step lower than us because of Losman is basically a rookie and the loss of Jennings who wasn't replaced. If both teams Wr's were all healthy I didn't see much difference in Chambers, Booker, Boston, Thompson and Moulds, Evens, Parrish and the other guy who I can't think of his name. O-line I think they have flaws just like us but I gave the Bills a slight advantage. Qb's I give us the advantage with Ferotte and Feeley because I feel overall they are better than Losman (who has thrown like 5 balls in the NFL) and that ex-Browns guy. You know when you pick up a bad QB when the Browns don't even want him. Rb's as it stands Willis and Henry have the advantage but I wouldn't discount Brown, Gordon, Morris, Harris and Ricky (if he comes back) and if Henry left then I would have to give the advantage to the Dolphins.

I'll go out on a limb here and say the bills will have a better offensive rank when this year is done with.

Ps. Newlownorder: This is a thread about Miami's offensive rank next year, not comparing Miami to the bills, but I had to answer you.

What talent is this? We have Taylor, Thomas, Madison, and Seau returning. I'm only penciling in Seau as a starter at this point. That's a lot of new starters, a brand new defense headed by a coordinator who doesn't excite me and a first year NFL head coach. The team has already lost Poole for the year, and a rookie is running with the first team at CB. We have a bona fide hole at safety that may or may not get filled. Our truest two gap defensive linemen are both coming off of injury, and we haven't gotten that kid (who may well be a developmental prospect) we want in the supplemental draft yet. As you mention, there is also a change in defensive philosophy that may or may not render our best defensive personnel less effective than they have been (particularly while things are getting figured out).

We do have a lot of potentially exciting players coming in on defense, but you can't count on additions to all come together to form a whole. Look at the Redskins defense -- it was in the 20s in 2002 and 2003 with more name talent than they had in 2004 when they ranked 5th.

This will be a good defense...I just don't expect it to come together as quickly as the offense.
thats fair but I think they will come together fast

Would you buy I meant N for iNferior (the other three teams)?

Yeah, I didn't think so. I feel bad because I think our Bills fan in question also brought this up and it just sailed right over my head. What can I say? I need a "training camp" period to get my board presence back into form. ;)

When people rank offense they aren't speaking of points, sorry. It's all about total offense.

Are you suggesting I'm not a person?

Like I said -- nobody said anything about "total offense" until you came along.

I'll tell you what -- I hope you guys outgain us in yardage and we outscore you in each of the two games we play against each other. That way we'll apparently both be happy.
