Until this week we have had the upper hand on our opponents which play the 3-4. The Texan's play a 4-3, so of course I'm wondering if this could present a problem.

Any thoughts on how the 4-3 will affect the Wildcat?? I hope we pound them! I've gone on the NFL network website after each win and recorded the Fins audio on my Blackberry, and then made that recording my ring tone.

I need more ring tones!

I have no idea. I have a feeling it's more based on preparation within a system than the system itself. There are different brands of 3-4 or 4-3.

I think work better when facing a 4-3...simple fact is that once you get to the second level there are fewer guys to beat. With fewer linebackers Ronnie could have a few 20+ yard runs. We will have to see i bet Henning pulls it out at least 3 times on the first drive because its the first time it will be used in a game against a 4-3 so i cant wait to see what it can do.

GO FINS!!!

yea there is more contact up front..less in space that requires flanking blockers. Break that line and Ronnie has it for 6.

I think it will depend on how they line up. I think they have a better chance if they played 9 in the box and hope their end can catch williams before he turns the corner. (thats how I would play it)

I think if their DL can get penetration and he is crowding the line they can take brown out of it, the question then would become is their end quick enough to get to Williams before he turns the corner.

Of course that would leave them in man coverage 1-1 and pennington could have a good day- but as a defensive thats what i would have to try.

I don't think we will be able to tell until deeper into the season. We have only been using it for two weeks.

Why is it more effective on a 3-4?

That would be my question. 3-4 would seem to be the more able to read/react. Though I could see a 4-3 being able to put more pressure on the OLine. Again, I think it's more based on coaching and not scheme based.

i agree 100% with the assesment...we just caught two 3-4 defenses by storm...NE's were old and not looking for it...San Diago was more prepared...BUT i think the fluidity of thier linebackers helped them stop the "cat" for a couple of no gainers...with the 4-3 when Ronnie get's to the second level there are fewer guys to beat. I think with a 4-3 defence you would have to modify it a little bit have Mario's hands off the ground in case...

Well there have been different ways that we have run this particular offense.

We lined our players this way:

RB(ricky) Te, LG, C, RG, LT, RT WR(x receiver), QB(receiver)

Fullback Behind the Right Guard

Rb behind at center for Shotgun Snap

We have ran it the other way around in many plays and basically, had desirable results. I just want ot see other variations that might execute differently.

If you google on stopping the single wing, it appears the more bodies directly on the LOS the better.

And prey that your OLB beats williams to the corner and that he and your corner are strong enough to take him down alone.

I like williams odds on that 2 on 1 situation
