Looking more and more like Miami will pick somewhere in the middle of the draft come April.

I think most can agree that the primary needs are on defense. Linebacker, defensive end (pass rusher) and corner top the list. The Dolphins may also want to capitalize on the quality safeties and tight ends in this draft.

Anyway, I put together a list looking at prospects who could be there in the middle of round 1 in a double down philosophy.

Linebacker
1. Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama
2. Jarrad Davis, LB Florida

Dolphins could have the best linebacking core in the NFL when you factor in Kiko Alonso.

Secondary
1. Jamal Adams, S, LSU
2. Desmond King, CB, Iowa

Would love a secondary with Howard, Jones, Adams and King. King may not be the prototype size-wise in Joseph's system, but he's a player

Defensive Line
1. Malik McDowell, DE, Michigan State
2. Duwuane Smoot, DE, Illinois

This one is more projection, which is always risky. Two big DE's who can rush the passer. I didn't list Allen because I think he goes top 10. Smoot hasn't had a great year, but still may go round 1.

Pass Rusher
1. Charles Harris, LB/DE, Missouri
2. Tim Williams, Pass Specialist, Alabama

Harris may be the second best pass rusher after Garrett. Williams will probably end up in round 1. If Miami goes with a 3-4 defense finding pass rushers could be easier. Wonder if Gase prefers that moving forward?

We have neglected athletic linebackers for too long. I'd like to add at least one more in the draft to work with kiko. Especially with Suh and Phillips up front, these athletic linebackers can really shine.

I'd take the linebackers all day out of those options

Agree. Honestly, would love Foster in the 1st. I think the team needs to get a linebacker in either the first or second round. Like you said, the front office has really ignored this position since picking Misi in R2.

That's how I feel as well. A combination of Foster, Davis and Alonso could be special. That's obviously assuming those players would be available when Miami picks.

It's tough, though, because I really want to get one of the top safeties and tight ends.

Linebackers. Allows up to gracefully say goodbye and thanks to Misi, Jenkins can be a part timer, Hewitt or Vigil can be decent with Alonso, so 3 good linebackers and 2 average ones are better than one good and 4 average

I think I'd split my picks, and get Foster with my first pick, and the best remaining DE with my second.

For the 1st RD options, I'd rank them: Foster, Adams, McDowell, Harris.

For 2nd: Williams, King, Davis - haven't got around to Smoot.

LB should be top priority. Then DE

I think I agree with getting 1 LB and 1 DE early. You can double up late in the draft assuming we get those compensation picks from losing Miller and Vernon to big deals

Unless Miami ends up going to a 3-4. I do wonder if that may be what Adam Gase prefers. This year I think he was kind of stuck with the talent he had which matched a 4-3. But, if Miami sticks to the same defense I like your rankings per round.

One thing that wouldn't surprise me is if the Dolphins went corner in the 1st. Howard looks good, but getting another good corner is never a bad idea.

Does make the most sense. Pass rushers go so quickly, though, it's hard to say who will be there in R2. I also think that could be a good spot for one of the tight ends if either Howard or Butts make it to middle of R2.

I agree on Foster. What defensive ends do you think will be available in R2?

At this point I have no idea. I don't start thinking that much about the draft until after the season is over. Walter Football has Lawson dripping to the 2nd, but many on here seem to think he goes in the first. It just looks like a deep DE draft overall which is good for us. TE also.

Don't think Tabor is there when Miami drafts, and I've only skimmed the CB's, but if the talent is right, CB should be an option.
