Ok, so we just came off of one of the greatest single season turn-a-rounds in NFL history, going from 1-15 in '07 to 11-5 in '08 and taking the AFC East Division Title. An amazing accomplishment, BUT... Now that we've established that we have what I believe to be the most brutal schedule in '09. Would it be even more of an accomplishment to aggressively navigate our way through a gauntlet of a schedule and again re-capture the AFC East or even a wild card spot?

What we did this year made history, I don't think we will be making any history next year, but when talking degree of difficulty I think it would indeed be even crazier if we're able to go through the likes of the Steelers, Colts, Titans, Panthers, Chargers and not to mention the East's finest to get into the post season.

hit me

Other than Pittsburgh and San Diego, our schedule is the same as the Patriots, Jets and Bills. All that it really means is that the winner of the East may not have to win 11 games like it did this year. We may be able to win the East with 10 wins.

I don't really take much from all the "harder schedule" talk. The schedule is basically the same as the rest of the AFC East, so it is no cake walk for them either. Honestly, we may have a better team next year, but a worse record.

And the 11 teams who put us down for wins when looking at the 08 schedule were in for a rude awakening. And what about the pleasant surprise awaiting some of those teams scheduled against Denver, SD and the Cowboys?? Don't you think that Carolina going into the season would have been thrilled if told they'd be facing the Cardinals in the first play-off game?

Things change, sometimes drastically. Players hit the wall, underperform, are poorly drafted, and of course get injured. Coaches find themselves in over their heads. So I wouldn't worry too much about what our schedule looks like going into 2009. As I have always tried to teach my kid, "anticipation is frequently worse than the actual reality."

Thats a good point, but I always consider the Dolphins to have the worst end of the AFC East because of the geographical nature of the division. Our 3 road games within the division are "true" road games, traveling at least 1200 miles (estimate) into drastically different conditions to each of our AFC east opponents collective home. Whereas, our opponents travel an average of around 200-300 miles (another estimate) to play each other in very similar conditions to which they are accustomed to. So when we get down to brass tacks, I still feel the dolphins have the hardest schedule in the league in '09.

No doubt its a tough schedule but not an impossible task to get to the playoffs. Injuries always has a huge impact of how teams perform in the regular season, which is impossible to assess at the moment but if the Fins have the same luck they did this year then I think we will be in good shape next season.

All the schedule means is that each team in the division will have to work harder to have a successful year. Pittsburgh had the toughest schedule in the league this year and you know what they did already.

No the Phins aren't Pittsburgh yet, but having the hardest schedule isn't always a precursor to a ****ty season. Besides, let's worry about that in the summer time. Now it's the time of year where the focus needs to be on FA and the draft.

win or lose, the team has a reputation to uphold now. that makes me happy, for now.

As last year proved, the teams projected to be the best can easily turn out to suck.
