A post on another thread got me thinking about this...actually I have been for a little while.

Which is more important for you as a fan? To have the perfect season preserved or to have our Phins win the division THIS year and go into the playoffs again?

I bring this up because NE needs to play INDY and NO, and is probably the best chance at either of those teams losing. But if NE wins one or both of those games, it significantly reduces our chances of winning the division over the Pats.

So if it really came down to it - which would you rather have? NE beats INDY/NO to preserve the perfect season but beats us by one game for the division, or loses to INDY/NO allowing us to win the division and head to the playoffs, while allowing INDY or NO to finish undefeated (assume all the way to a championship)?

As much as I love being the only perfect team, it's about today. 1972 was 37 years ago. I want to win a SB dammit!!!

If we make to the playoffs, then we beat their *** in the playoffs or SB and there is still only one resident of Perfectville!!!

I read that too and thought the same thing.

I want the Pats to lose to the Colts and No at all cost. I love the record but it really means much of nothing these days.

I could never root for any of our division opponents unless of course they are playing each other. Then it is always the lesser of two evils record wise.

What's the point of going to the playoffs if the Saints or Colts get a perfect record with the Super Bowl?
If the Giants had been perfect and the Patriots weren't (when they played in the Super Bowl), I'd still have rooted for the Giants, just like I will for the Saints & Colts vs them.

who really cares about the past. We live in 2009, and I want to see the 2009 Dolphins in the play-offs. No one is going undefeated anyway!

With all due respect, the geezers from 1972 can kiss my backside. It's about the here and now. I would much rather see the 2009 team win the AFC East for the second year in a row and ending the decade with a 2nd straight trip to the playoffs versus not being AFC East Champions and home for the playoffs.

thats how i see it. on a more serious note its nice being the only undefeated team but its not going to last forever. i used to be a big record guy but now i dont care about them anymore. records will always be broken. i want us to start breaking records. i want a dolphins qb to get back all of marinos records.

records are shiny and pretty but all i really care about anymore is winning a freaking super bowl. its been too damn long.

I voted to miss playoffs and keep the record. I dont want to miss the playoffs but we lost to both teams already and if one gets into the playoffs undefeated after we lost to them i would be heart broken.
I also think these teams may lose other games and your question wont be a valid question by then.

Since I was born in 1981, what happened in 1972 is unimportant to me. I'm glad the Phins have held that record for so long but for the love of all that is holy, I want to see them win a Super Bowl NOW!

no team is going undefeated this year. the vikes will have the best record

How about the Falcons beat the Saints in GA or the Cowboys beat them? Then we still beat out NE for the division? Sounds great to me!

I think sooner or later some team is probably going to go undefeated and beat our record (19-0)...I think the Pats once won 21 regular season games in a row, and I think someone like Indy or New Orleans could go perfect....I would rather win right now over remaining the only team in Perfectville.

Playoffs, NOW!
