I just can't believe people underestimate the poor play from the running . I mean 16 rushing yards. longest run of 4 yards. that's disgusting. and yet everyone just crucifies every throw from tannehill and act like other qbs dont miss throws because all they see is highlight clips. they don't mention how the run game has been pure **** all year. it gives tannehill no help. we can't run play actions, we always run draws out of shotgun. the runs are predictable too. a running back who can consistently moves the chains is a big help.

One of the reasons why people depreciate the running game is because this is now a passing league. It used to be run to open up the pass, now its pass to open up the run. Blame Ireland for getting rid of Bush, but even with Bush we scarcely ran play action. However, even with a better run game there's no guarantee that it will make Tannehill better. Ricky Cannabis didn't make Fiedler much better, so we have to evaluate Tannehill based on what we see now. Now of course even great QBs miss deep balls, but it is not a habitual problem for them or their modus operandi as it is with Tannehill.

He would make the offense better, not necessarily the QB. A healthy in his prime Ricky would result in the QB having to do less, yet wouldn't make the QB better. Fiedler was still Fiedler.

Side note: If it wasn't for Ray Lucas + refs, that 2002 team would have gone deep into the playoffs.

You have an agenda to prove Tannehill will become a competent quarterback. I feel he is an average prospect and will be just that, AVERAGE. I, as a Dolphin fan for over 29 years, can call a spade a spade. It's become simple to fans like me. When you see sh*t, you don't call it gold.
 
Andrew Suck? Um, he took a team that went 2-14 the year before he got there and went to the playoffs. He will likely win his division this year. And the Colts don't have any better talent around him at the skill positions than we do. Comparing these two guys is ridiculous. Luck is way better than RT right now. How many clutch comebacks does Mr Suck have in his short career thus far? 7? 8? 9? 10? How many does RT have? 1? 2? I like Ryan and I see improvement in his game - particularly extending plays - he wasn't doing that early in the season. Now he needs to hit the deep throws. No more excuses. NFL QBs make those throws. Period.

Yeah, and if you took only the first two years of any player's career, a lot of the time it doesn't mean a God damn thing.

I get it, you want instant results, but it doesn't always happen that way.

By the way, do you know Miami's offensive line has given up the most sacks in the NFL? That Miami is tied for 6th with 9 plays of 40+ yards? That Miami is 30th in rushing attempts per game?

That's not a recipe for success, especially not for a second-year quarterback.
 
Oh, another thread where SFL'ers try to defend themselves. Even after we beat the QB in question this year. Luck on the Dolphins wouldn't have fared any better, it's painfully obvious to anyone who knows anything about football. Our team is losing because of a bad OL, bad running game, and bad play calling.

Let's be real here, Ryan Tannehill is still in a position of learning. Watching Monday Night Football, I heard Jon Gruden, one of the "RGIII is great" proponents, say that RGIII is "still learning." (Also worth noting, RGIII has 25 fumbles in 23 games)

I believe that we have a perpetuance for impatience. Like I mentioned above, if you take a snippet of the first two years of every good NFL player, I'd be willing to bet that a lot of those outlooks didn't look much like the successful NFL careers they had.

It has a lot to do with the ingredients, not only in the locker room, but on the field. It also has a lot to do with Tannehill not yet hitting his ceiling. There's great plays he makes, and then there's easy throws he doesn't make that you'd wish he could hit.

However, I'm still confident that Ryan Tannehill has enough skill to be our franchise quarterback.

I love how Luck is Andrew Suck and Justin Blackmons the junkie :lol: is it even public knowledge how he violated the policy? All I am aware of as far as his prior problems have been DUI related.

I agree with your overall point, but those two caught my eye
 
I don't think Luck sucks at all....the dude can ball for sure and will be , barring tragic injury, at the helm of the Colts for the next 10 years or so. BUT, I do seem to think when you lose an important piece of your offense ( Wayne) it really will hurt a 2nd yr qb....or any qb really. Brady wasn't exactly lighting it up early in this season with all the newbies he had to work with. But being a vet, he has skillfully led his team past the rough spots and if you don't think he leaned on his experience to get through that, you'd have another thought coming.

Now take RT, another 2nd yr starter thrown in to the wolves, lost one new toy before the season started (Keller), lost another nice player who he was just getting into a grove with( Gibson), 2 starting olineman and a 3rd the last couple games, dealing with the fiasco that is bullygate and no real semblance of a go to running back, I think he has performed admirably while improving in his game week to week. Yeah, yeah, I am sure his critics will inevitably say quit making excuses and just win....but it isn't that they are excuses as it is just plain facts. Most ANY qb will struggle with the crap he has had to deal with in his very young career, and at times he has struggled, but more times than not he has thrived....occasionally he has missed a receiver, but more times he has thrown great passes that not every qb can. He has shown touch and has put a lil stank on it when need be. He has sat facing an oncoming rusher and thrown perfect passes knowing he will be getting crunched. He has shown recently that he can scramble and improvise or just take off and run for positive yardage. The kid is growing right before your very eyes even if the overall record of this team doesn't quite show it yet. And I know, before this season started most here said they would be patient and let the kid develop, well let him....I think you will not be sorry :)
 
Guess what, I will settle for an average NFL starting QB. We haven't had one in years. Middle of the pack QBs win super bowls and great QBs sometimes never make it. Great QBs are a rarity. You do not need them to win superbowls - bottomline. The expectations around here are too damn high. RT can be an average to perhaps better than average QB. We aren't just going to land a great one because they don't come around that often. We can rotate through QBs for another decade tryin to find greatness and not get anywhere. It's a sound policy to draft a QB every 2-3 years as a possible replacement in rnd 1-3. But we don't just jettison RT because "he sucks" on some days with this team. And please, let's put a stop wishing that garbage like Delvin holds some great promise.
