Holy Christ.... what a kick in the nuts viewing that list. Begs the question, where are the owners whom hired and then left them in place years after everyone else knew what they brought to the table. Wannstadt, Sparano, and Ireland were extended for crying out loud (seriously the thought practically brings me to tears).

For me it's a tie between Wanny and Ireland. Wanny started it (though JJ's recommended replacement) but Ireland's body of work is unmatched. His work will last for another 3-5 years trying to remediate the pollution that he left behind. The BP oil spill has nothing on the size of damage this guy did.

I considered that, but since neither is a Jerry Jones misguided control freak type - I left them off. :idk:

Posters may feel free to click "other" then list.

Tuna. Might not be the worst offender but the other ones at least showed up. Parcells was paid and quickly lost interest then left neophytes in charge. They all made the list as well. Bill was the gift that kept on giving. **** him

It all starts with Wannstache...

He set us back a decade with horrendous drafts and passing on Brees.

It's Wanny. It has to be Wanny. He completely destroyed this franchise for years, the way he did to the Bears. I don't factor in anything but sheer damage done to the team in terms of salary cap management, drafting, trades, and free agency moves.

Wannstedt is by all accounts a good man, but he should never be in charge of a football team. He was truly awful at it.

Wanted to pick both Spielman and Wanny. It has to be Wanny but I voted Spielman just to make sure he has one vote because fu** him too.

Yeah, I'd give Wanny the lifetime achievement award for sucking as a HC. Miami and Chicago in the NFL and when he wore out his NFL welcome, look what he did to the Pitt program.

People actually gave that guy THREE cracks at HC.

However, if Ireland got three cracks at GM, he'd be historical in bringing fire and brimstone to two other franchises. I really think Ireland can raise the bar in this area. He's got that kind of potential.

I might have given Sparano an honorable mention, but since he took down the Jets offense for an entire year, I've forgiven him just a little for the years of ineptitude.

Jimmy Johnson - he had a negative trickle down effect beyond his years as coach. 1st, he scrapped Marino/Shula offensive playbook, 2nd he gradually failed at drafting successfully, 3rd, his offenses sucked, 4th after JJ figured out he failed as h.o., instead of hiring the best h.o. candidate available, he just hands the keys to Wanny. More years of suckage ensued.

You can make strong arguments for them all.

If this is truly a quarterback league, then you have to blame Wannstedt for passing on Brees the first time (and Brady, though everyone passed on Brady several times).

But oddly enough -- even though the Dolphins weren't that bad when he was here -- you end up having to blame Nick Saban for passing on Brees the second time and for not drafting Aaron Rodgers.

When you look at the top flight quarterbacks in the game right now and where the Dolphins were picking -- or who they courted in free agency -- Saban is perhaps more guilty than any of them (in case the Dingbat Brigade wants to chime in, Matt Ryan doesn't qualify in the same tier with Brady, Manning, Brees and Rodgers... or even in the Rivers or Roethlisberger class).

That being said, I vote for Ireland.

Sorry, but Jimmy Johnson is the sole reason the team even remained relevant into the early part of last decade. He inherited a near-impossible situation in which to really succeed, with Marino in the twilight of his career and a horrible cap situation due to Shula loading up for one last run the couple years before. He was forced to let Irving Fryar, Bryan Cox, Troy Vincent, and Marco Coleman all walk in free agency, which robbed basically all their talent aside from Marino. I was not happy with the way he left and how he saddled the team with Wannstedt, but he was responsible for drafting the best two players this franchise has had in the last 30 years other than Marino. Sam Madison and Pat Surtain weren't bad, either. It's true that he crapped the bed when it came to the offensive side of the ball, but no way should he be in the discussion here, imo.

For me, it's Wannstedt, Ireland, and Saban, in that order.

JJ is my pick, because he gets some of the credit for the Wanny baggage as well. JJ collected a check and didn't even want to be here, while he handcuffed Marino, because any wins we did manage HAD to be credited to JJ's massive ego. You take audibles away from the best audible QB ever at the time? Would they do that to Peyton?
Then, when he really really didn't want to be here, he made sure he skull porked the franchise by leaving Wanny in charge. Maybe Huizenga gets some credit for letting these clowns hang around for so long, because Wanny was such a gosh darn it nice guy.

It has to be Bill Parcells. He is responsible for Jeff Ireland, Chad Henne, Pat White, and a bunch of other bone head decisions that the Dolphins are still trying the scrub the stench of off of them.

A vote for Wrongstedt is really a vote for JJ, whereas a vote for Sparano or Ireland are votes for Parcells.

I'd say all of the above but I have to be honest. The slide began when Shula was still in charge. He had some horrible drafts the last 10 years he was in charge. Think about these players.....Sammie Smith, Bosa, Kumerauw(sp?) Lorenzo Hampton, Jackie Shipp, Jay Brophy, Billy Milner. The list goes on with him. JJ built a top defense. In 2 drafts, something Shula never did while he had Marino.
