Which WR do we keep?

What about Gates? and the more i think about it, the more i think matthews will make the team. He is a solid potential punt returner

Oh yeah, I forgot about him completely, Lol. Gates has speed, but I think the other guys are more skilled. I think Gates would not make the roster if he wasn't a burner in only his 2nd season. But he will probably beat out Matthews or Cunningham for one of the last 2 WR spots.

I'm guessing that after training camp, we'll try to sneak either BJ Cunningham or Rishard Matthews to the practice squad (whichever did worse).

We're not competing this year.

I believe in the direction this Team is going; It's all I have to hold on too. I can't stand all the naysayers this site. Let's give them a chance to see what sort of product they field before giving up. New Coaches', New offence, Good defense, decent draft.

“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” Einstein

Let's hope this new Coaching staff can fix some of the problems that have plagued this Team for the past season's and put some fire back in to hearts of the fans!!

No. But now im thinking its going to be Hartline Bess Gates Cunningham and then a competition between Wallace/Matthews/Nanee.
Would not surprise me if we traded one of Hartline, Bess or Gates this year. I know everyone loves Bess and I appreciate his contributions to the team but we need more speed in the slot. Bess starting on the outside is just going to cause defense to put 8 or 9 in the box to stop the run and blitz the heck out of our QB.

Don't be surprised if our scouts are looking real hard at other teams WR waiting to pounce if they get cut.

Hartline, Bess, Gates, Moore, & Fuller. Those guys picked in the 7th are going to be practice squad candidates. Fuller will make the team because he knows the offense and was Tannehill's favorite receiver at A&M.

I couldn't disagree more. I think Bess is the prototypical Wr needed in the WCO. Philbin was already praising how productive Bess has been before he even saw him in person.

Look at Green Bay and you'll see that our Wr core is younger, but very similarly built. These "Slot" Wrs they picked in the draft are the type of receivers they like to utilize in their offense.

Also, I would like to add J. Fuller to that mix. I think he has a chance to make the Practice Squad.

My guess at the line up would be; Bess, Hartline, Gates, Wallace, BJ (Matthews, Moore and Fuller @PS)

Bess and Hartline are locks.

Every one else is on the bubble and will need to perform during pre-season in order to survive.

I think they will roster 6 spots for WRs as our base set may be 3 WRs as Tannehill stated on Gruden. One or two will also support special teams play.

If thats the case, then it would be unlikely to keep 4 RB's on the roster. Slaton would go. Clay Egnew and Fasano are locks to stay on the roster. I'm not sure if we're capable of keeping 6.

Everyone is writting off Bess and Hartline as automatic fits for the WCO...what if they struggle and arent suited for this offense? We need as many options as possible, just because Bess played well in our previous offenses does not mean he will strive in the WCO. We need to have as much competition for these guys and make them each EARN their spots.

You keep the top 4 and the best st players.

We will keep 6 and no Fullback. If a play calls for one, then Clay moves in position. Wallace is a beast on special teams. He will be WR 6. Hartline and Bess make the team. Gates as backup Kick returner (Miller will be starting KO) and only WR with top end speed makes the team. That's four. The other two will be fought between Nanee, Pruitt, Cunningham, Moore, Fuller, and Matthews. One or two of the rookies will be placed on the PS. We will keep 5 RB; Thomas, Bush, Slaton, Meesum, and Miller. Four or Five TE's (Fasano, Egnew, and Clay are locks; Yeatman and a possible late cut FA); 2 QBs Moore or Garrard (insurance if we didn't get Tannehill) and Tannehill (Devlin will be PS if eligible); and 8 offensive linemen (depth players will have to play multiple positions). This offense will be geared to wear down a defense. There will be a lot of presnap movement working to get the best mismatches. Quick routes. Zone blocking. High pace. Maybe no huddle. In the Florida Sun, heavy NTs and DTs are going to be gassed by the middle of 2nd period. Let's see the other teams cramping up this year.

I'm thinking the roster will have 3 qb's, 4 rb's, 1 fb, 3 te's, 5 wr's, 9 ol, 9 dl, 7 lb's, 9 db's and punter, snapper, kicker. You might be able to go with 6 wr's and only 8 d-linemen.

Bess is an excellent route runner, very strong/durable and has great hands (the past year was the only year he has had issues catching the ball). He can be placed anywhere on the line, but has been mostly used in the slot where he has excelled. All of these traits are exactly what a West Coast Offense Wideout should possess.

Hartline and Gates bring us a bit of speed, but speed is not really needed in this offense. You really have to have Wideouts that can run precise routes and have great hands (Look at the Wideouts we have drafted).

So, imo I would say Bess is a definite starter in this offense and will see a lot of balls thrown his way.
