Who are the 5 - 6 guys on the bubble?

I'm suprised that no one has said Nic Grigsby yet, LJ probably earned the 3rd Running back spot tonight which probably means Grigsby will be on his way out

I thought bubble players were ones who could go either way. I haven't thought about Grigsby because I don't see a chance of him making it.

Just remember that Moore choked on his big deep pass, failed on several other occasions to get his body in place to get catchable balls, and just isn't polished anywhere. I love the energy he shows and the athleticism, but he got a year last year to polish himself from a project player to a receiver, and his inconsistency this preseason showed that he is still a project player that the team might not want to continue developing over guys they can be more comfortable with making the play when called.

Hmm lets see, 6 rec for 128 and a TD in 3 productive games vs 6 rec for 62 in one productive game. Yes Marlon dropped some balls but lets not talk about inconsistency and leave Wallace out. People want to keep Wallace for ST, I get it. He's not the better receiver however. And with the new kick off rules ST coverage doesn't really concern me that much.

I think some folks see Wallace as like a mini-Marshall too and want to see what he can turn into. It's almost a coinflip for me, but I have to admit for the drops Moore has had, he's made nice catches that make up for them, and Wallace has just looked kinda bland out there even when he makes a catch. I'd have to go with Moore now, even though I thought Wallace a few weeks ago.

You can't just look at final numbers in the preseason and say that is that, because in preseason the passing game is such an improvised mess that you can't ever ensure that guys will get an equal opportunity to make plays. Moore didn't convert 30-50 percent of the chances he got and I can't say the same about Wallace. The only factor that I can't account for is whether or not Moore was getting more chances due to luck (based on playcall, line blocking, the QB in the game at the time, etc.), or because he is genuinely getting open more than Wallace. That's possible, but that would take looking at wide angle film which I don't have access to.

I'm not just looking at final numbers. I watched each game individually and concluded that Moore made more plays. I can't assess why or why not Wallace wasn't getting targeted. Maybe he ran routes poorly? Maybe Moore's # was called more because the staff sees more potential in him? Either way the end result is the same and Moore earned a roster spot. If that is at the expense of Wallace so be it.

I'm not gonna give Wallace the spot over Moore because he may have been "unlucky." lol

I also agree with most people on this board that Marlon Moore is a better WR than Roberto Wallace. He makes more plays plain and simple. And not just in the preseason. The play against Oakland last year was a big time play and Wallace hasn't shown that he can do that yet.

Wallace is going to make the team though, he's a good special teams player and after what happened last year I doubt any core special team players get the axe this year.

Livas has no chance to make the team. He's behind Moore and Wallace and we aren't keeping 7 WR's. I'm worried if we'll keep 6. I think Moore's odds are 50/50 right now. I wish there was some way of seeing how he did on special teams tonight. Hopefully Moore makes the team because he has talent and I'd definately like to see us getting the benefit of it when he puts it all together.

Why do you assume that the staff called Moore's number more than Wallace? For all we know they could have called plenty of plays for him that just got busted before they could get the ball to him. That's the point; this is preaseason and half of the passing plays called don't come out anywhere like they are supposed to be because the offensive line is often porous, scrub running backs completely miss picking up blitzers, and inexperienced and rusty QB's don't know the plays entirely yet, don't feel the pocket around them, and throw inaccurate passes because they are rusty.

There's a ton of variables that can all prevent a wide receiver from getting a chance to make plays in preseason. The only thing he can control is whether or not he is open for the QB, but a whole series of things has to go right for the QB to find him even if he is open. And keep in mind that these guys have not been on the field a ton, they're rotating with other guys who are also getting a shot. So they may only get a handful of pass plays to really show what they've got, and it may just be that one guy had a lot more of his small number of plays get broken down as things tend to do in preseason. That's where luck comes in.

Either way, the one thing that definitely is not a matter of luck is whether or not you catch passes that hit you square in the hands. Marlon Moore failed to do that several times this preseason, and that will count against him, while Wallace did not struggle at that.

I agree that Moore is the more valuable receiver. Livas will make the team--watch and see. He's going to contribute as receiver also. The only way we keep 6 receivers is if we keep Livas. Got to make a choice Wallace or Moore.

austin spitler should have already been cut...culver should be cut...makes no splash plays on his own...ness is in trouble if you ask me...john jerry the patience may have run out there...joe bergers in trouble...cut marlon moore...i don't know how livas faired last night but he's a bubble guy...larry johnson should be cut provided we can get someone someplace else...i see zero chance they cut carroll...too early to give up on those tools...marvin mitchells probably a bubble guy as i would think are ryan baker and fields...

grigsbys probably headed to the p squad with devlin and spears...not sure how much run kearse got last night but he's someone we want to hang onto...he's stout at the poa...ideally you get him on the p squad but someone might poach him if you expose him

wallace will make this team if for nothing else he's a damn good gunner on specials...plus he's developing as a wr...still doesn't separate down the field much but a big body with upside and special teams impact right now is an obvious keeper
