I know I read where new signee Reggie Torbor is an ILB but what position do guys like Marcello Church and Mark Washington play? Does anyone have any idea?

Actually, Washington was a DL in college, and was

Im not sure about Church, but Im positive that Washington plays outside

projected to play ILB due to his weight (250). The Great Blue North supplemental draft report projected him as a possible ILB. I don't mind where he plays but I think it isn't a definite that he plays on the outside. He has potential and I wouldn't be shocked if he got the opportunity to prove himself.
Tabor actually played outside lb in a 4-3. He probably could move to the inside. If you believe reports, the Dolphins actually wanted Pace to play inside, which he apparently didn't like. Right now, I am not sure who is going to play inside other than maybe Crowder.

Church is an ILB. Washington played DE in college, so i'd think he's an OLB. Torbor can probably play both, although it looks as though we're planning to use him inside.

this is how i see our LB corps right now:

SLB - Joey Porter, Abe Wright, Junior Glymph, Mark Washington
SILB - Reggie Torbor, Charlie Anderson, Marcello Church
WILB - Channing Crowder, Edmond Miles, Kelvin Smith
WLB - Jason Taylor, Quentin Moses, Rob Ninkovich

Unless Matt Roth can add about 20 lbs. I think he's going to be tried first as an OLB. I know people question his athletic ability for the position, but as a two gap 3-4 DE he's going to be a speed bump.

Probably at this point the Dolphins don't know what they're going to do with him. They'll probably evaluate him at both OLB and DE in mini-camp to decide which position is best for him from there on out.

Matt Roth weighed 288 last season so he'd have to drop a lot of weight to move to OLB. I don't think he has the athleticism to play OLB personally.

288? wow. that is big enough for DE in the 3-4. he looked around 270 all season - i will have to check that out. if true, and if he can stay that weight, i would keep him at DE.

Some "experts" projected Washington to play ILB

But I wouldn't argue with either if he has the speed. The recent Miami Herald article reviewing the new additions had comments from Giant media guys, who said Tabor had not played in a 3-4 defense, but they envisioned him playing inside (they ran a 4-3).

I remember one of the reporters saying that Roth weighed in at 288 during training camp last year. He obviously added a lot of bulk since we drafted him. You can tell just by looking at him.

He definitely bulked up between '06 and '07. I also think that it hurt him getting that heavy. He moved like a walrus when he ran on and off the field.
