who cares how great marinos stats were, he failed win it all.

tippett and hannah are easy ones no debate there, same with adam v...
coates and brady is up for discussions, those that like stats qb will say marino, but thats all he ever was....

Brady is a great QB, he doesnt make very many mistakes, but Marino could take over a game like no other QB. Dan would go out there with every one and their mother KNOWING he was going to throw the ball 35+ times, and they still couldnt stop him. Dan could throw the ball from any arm angle. Brady is good but he has to be great for 8-10 more years before he is mentioned with Marino.

I know I will catch crap for McDuffie. I know Duper, and Clayton were great receivers, but for me, I just enjoyed watching Dan hook up with McDuffie when he was in trouble, and McDuffie would come out of no where to give Dan relief. They were sink, as well as The Marx Brothers. So the three of them im my book could be tied for third. It was a real shame how McDuffie's career ended.

I honestly would have put Ricky down if he would have stayed......I think he would have had some huge years here, and he may, if he comes back

3)4 way tie.....Clayton/Duper/Griese/Stephenson

The old school Phins had more of a "team" philosophy and used all of the guys available. Baumhower...Betters...Kiick..and who could forget Jake Scott..SB MVP...first DB ever. I mean it's hard to pick against those guys because they worked the best as a unit, something Marino never had..the best unit, but this was best Phins of all time perios so ill stick by my list. Good thread though!

maybe its just me but id rather have the qb that won my team titles than the qb who puts on a show lighting it up with stats.....

and i know there are many others who feel the same way...
in all sports that is what is looked at in terms of success.
how many championships did u win? marino didnt win any....
if brady retired tommorow he would be seen years from now as more of a successful qb than dan the man ever was....

u hate hearing that but its true, dan was mr. stats but he never was a champion.....
and what was with him quitting the front office job??? never heard why he really left that a few days after he joined...
not the bs excuse he gave but why really did he quit?

maybe someone one here knows that

First off, Dan in a class Champion in my book. He would never quit, until the time on the clock was gone. What you don't understand is the amount of heart this guy played with. Just because a team doesn't win a championship, doesn't mean it was all Dan's fault. Dan may have left the organization, after his roll was defined, and with that in mind, and the time away from family he was man enough to admit it wasn't for him. Last but not least why are on a Dolphin board talking crap about our most beloved quaterback? Don't you chowder heads have a website that you post to?

hannah was an off guard not dt, i was not comparing him to any player i was comparing to positions....

i didnt mention those others as they are debatable in terms of matching with phins best in those positions but hannah is an easy choice, along with tippett, vinatieri.... coates and brady are up for debate.....

:roflmao: yeah and many of u phins post there too and we are cool with it...

dan is cool and i hate to admit it but what the hell, i even have a signed jersey with his name and # on it that i have stored secretly away..... lol


and if dan ever had a rb like ricky for those few years where he was awesome, miami would of probably won it,..... that sammie smith pick at #9 in 1st round in 1989 was a killer mistake and put miami back bigtime ......

although i thought it was a good pick as i went to many fsu games and watched him dazzle but he just was a bust in the pros
