Just for entertainment purposes who are the current top 5 slot receivers pay wise?
And does Landry deserve to be in that group?

Doug Baldwin (2016-2020) WR SEA 29 4 $46,000,000 $11,500,000 $12,000,000 $24,250,000 52.72% 2021
Tavon Austin (2016-2021) WR LA 26 4 $42,000,000 $10,500,000 $17,000,000 $28,500,000 67.86% 2022
Randall Cobb (2015-2018) WR GB 27 4 $40,000,000 $10,000,000 $13,000,000 $13,000,000 32.50% 2019
Golden Tate (2014-2018) WR DET 29 5 $31,000,000 $6,200,000 $10,500,000 $16,000,000 51.61% 2019
Julian Edelman (2017-2019) WR NE 31 2 $11,000,000 $5,500,000 $7,000,000 $7,000,000 63.64% 2020

This whole thing reminds me of Jimmy Graham a few years ago when he is a TE and he was trying to say he was a wide receiver so he could get paid more.

I can't believe Tavon Austin made 15 freaking million dollars last year.

And I think that is Landrys rationale for wanting 14.5 mil, according to reports...I will never be in a position to do this but imagine turning down 13 million a year!!!

Thanks. In all honesty, based on that list -- Landry should get around 12mill and certainly NOT 16+. Yea I strongly prefer to keep him but...

Keep in mind most of those contracts are 2 years old when the cap was $25 million less and the top 2 guys were not UFAs.

Cannot stress that I would estimate a 20% bump is a reasonable bump for Jarvis if you consider him near the top of this list. That puts him very close to 14 million AAV.

16 million is too much and even I would have him test FA or keep the tag on him and continue the negotiations.

let someone else pay it than. Hell, trade him for a young tight end.

if they are give away money to qb. then #14 should get 14 to16 m yr. the dolphins have money. they knew juice was up next to get paid.

i am in favor of 14 million and 5/70 works for me.

If you can trade him for a top 50 pick and believe that Carroo and Grant take steps, then that is an acceptable move . . . But that requires a trading partner. Teams aren’t necessarily lining up to throw away a draft pick to pay a guy big money.

When you have $70M+ in cap I don't think it matters too much.

Also, does anyone actually have the breakdown on where Landry lined up? How much did he actually line up in the slot?

I didn't want to pay him 10 million, let alone 14 million. A productive tight end an involved running back on the passing game and using Grant more can replace Landry. Replacing Landry is just the wrong way of thinking about it, I think he was just a huge benefactor of an unproductive tight end core.

I just don' see this front office being a big fan of Landry.
I expect a Free Agent TE ,WR and even receiving RB that will cost all of what Landry wants.
