This combine dosent mean too much to me. But, thats just me. Im more interested in how guys perform WHILE PLAYING FOOTBALL. If I were a Marine recruiter or something, then the combine would be my #1 interest.

How well did Tom Brady do at the combine? If they had a combine back in 83, or if they did and it wasnt on TV, how well do you think Marino wouldve done?

Every year guys get overrated and overhyped going into the draft because of how high they jumped, how many times they benched 225lbs, or how fast they ran a 40 yard dash. It certainly reflects upon their athletic abilities, but it dosent necessarily translate to great performance on the gridiron where it counts.

Id much rather watch their game films from Sr.Bowl, and regular college games. Especially when they were up against other NFL caliber talent.

Im not interested in the combines anymore. 40 times, vertical jumps, and so on at the combine really mean absolutely nothing in comparison to real practices and games..

for example the 40 is staring to become extremely overrated. These guys run in a straight line; When was the last time you saw a WR run in a straight line during games?

The only important sessions during the combine are things such as WR catching drills to see how good their hands are, some QB throwing drills to measure accuracy, footwork and ball handling drills... But IMHO the 40 and the vertical jump are startign to become the most overrated sessions during the combine.

Antoine Cason, out of Arizona, and Beau Bell out of Nevada - Las Vegas. I hope these guys end up in Fins uniforms next year... Bell seems to be a clone of Zach Thomas and Cason had two touchdowns against Oregon (Punt and interception returned for touchdowns, if I remember correctly.) I think Cason needs a little work on his coverage skills, though.

40 time is what made the Skins draft Darryl (sp?) Green. That guy was F-A-S-T. We all saw him catch Dorsett from behind when Dorsett had something like 25 yards on him.

Like you said, though, I'm not really that interested in 40 times and bench reps. I'm interested in how the young guns will translate that speed and strength onto the playing field at the pro level. However, it's good to have reference of how fast/strong/agile/well they catch the ball going into the draft so you have a better feel for what you are going to pick.

I hear you, but scouts and GM's already knew he was fast even before the combine because they scouted him.

I cant even count the amount of players who did great in the combine, their stock was raised because of it, and they turned out to be busts... and vise versa as well; Players who had a crappy combine, lost draft stock, was drafted later than they should have been, came into the league, and dominated.

I used to watch the combine, but as the past couple years, I have lost interest. Although I will probably watch it again just to pass time and see how kids do, but I dont hold too much faith in it... Except for the skill drills

True but they Dorsey Dorsey is nimble at the shuttle cone stuff so we'll now see... We'll see if C Long is out to prove himself in every way shape and form that he is viable no.1 so bring it on... boys

You have to look at everything...not just games. By the way...I doubt that you could find too many games that Brady played in...so what then?

To answer the question...I want to see them all at the combine.

Dorsey, DT - LSU

*And then pretty much every single TE.

I don't put alot of stock in the combine as far as draft stock but being a fitness junkie I love to see some of the numbers.

C. Long
V. Gholston
G. Dorsey
A. Caldwell
J. Hardy
A. Bowman
M. Rucker
T. Joiner
A. Cason
D. Rogers-Cromartie
D. Jackson
D. Harvey
C. Campbell
etc.....

I'll be watching the OT's/CB's/WR's in this draft. I can see a lot of talent falling to the 2nd and 3rd round at these positions. If we don't trade down or take Jake Long first (which I don't think we'll do) I can see us taking a hard look at first round talent tackles that could fall like Gosder Cherilus (BC), Anthony Collins (Kansas), Chris Williams (V'bilt), Sam Baker (USC) or Carl Nicks (Nebraska). There are a lot of big, physical WR's (who could be great compliments for Ginn) in this draft as well, and while Sweed and Kelly will probaby be gone in the first round, we should have the chance to take a good hard look at James Hardy (Indiana), Devin Thomas (Michigan St) and Adarius Bowman (Ok St). At CB, I'd love it if we took a look at some of the less popular day 1 names like Dom Rodgers-Cromartie (Tenn St), Tracy Porter (Indiana), Charles Godfrey (Iowa), Justin King (Penn St) and Patrick Lee (Auburn).
I see so much Day One talent at positions where we could use it, it's not even funny. A day one of Chris Long/Gosder Cherilus/Devin Thomas/Patrick Lee would be incredible (that's just an example, not necessarily a prediction), and it could very well happen.

Steve Slaton.

Plain and simple.... the kid was a phenom when he was a frosh, but then he got hit up by a couple injuries and didn't finish too well... I really think if he was coming out next year he'd be in the top 10.

That said, I'm pretty sure he could be had in the 3rd-4th round... and I think he'll be a steal if he can return to form.
