I was thinking about short stride vs long stride and which WR compares to Ginn. The answer IMO is Moss. Running stlye is a better thing to base a comparision of a wide out on than body type. Most of the things I read compare him to someone that is the same size.

Now Ginn doesn't have his size, or run as good of routes, or can handle the press as well as he can, but I think their running styles are similar. I think Ginn can get better at routes and beating the press, but that remains to be seen at this point.

Moss needs a QB to have time to get open. His short routes aren’t a product of quick feet, but from CBs playing off of him due to his speed. If the CB knows his QB isn’t going to have time he will press him knowing that he doesn’t have to worry about the deep route. This is what happened in Oakland, and Moss became a 4th round pick. Some of the complaints about Ginn were said about Moss in Oakland.

This doesn’t mean that I think Ginn will set the record for TDs in a season. It just means that I think he has potential to be a good, or even a great receiver. He needs to have more support to be effective than a WR with a different skill set. He still has a lot of work to do, but once the offence is better he can be a back breaker.

I agree with you as far as giving him more time to develop and to get some offensive support. Our O-Line did not play a spectacular game on Sunday. They were good at times and bad at times. The injury to Donald Thomas only hurts us more. Also I think the playcalling was suspect at times. I don't care what people say about the two back system, but you need a feature back and it doesn't look like the coaching staff thinks we have one. I know Ronnie is coming off of an injury, but please when he gets into a rythem let him keep running don't put Ricky in to get one yard. Overall I think our whole offense has serious issues, its not just Ted Ginn Jr. Plus there is all this smack talk going on about Ginn, but what about the other recievers on the roster. As far as I'm concerned none of them showed up.

I don't think I've ever read any anaylist sazying Moss runs great routes. He's tall, has great hands, is fast and has leaping ability. He's also a long strider. What was wrong with Moss in Oakland is he didn't want to be there and was throwing a tantrum.

Yatil Green? Peter Warrik? Tory Edwards? Quadry Ismail? David Terrell? Freddy Mitchell? Charles Rogers? Reidel Anthony? Marcus Nash? Sylvester Morris? Rod Gardner? Eddie Kennison? Thomas Lewis? :boohoo:

Size and build-wise, he is pretty similar to Marvin Harrison. Difference being Harrison runs the crispest routes of anyone in the NFL, and catches most anything thrown his way. If Ginn works on his route-running, I think he can be successful. Mainly though, I think he needs to work on his aggressiveness. Because of his size, he needs to be even more aggressive than the average receiver. The fact that he seems to be pretty passive on the field only makes his size disadvantage worse......

He doesn't run great routes, but he runs good routes. Ginn does not yet. I think Moss didn't want to be there becuase of the team being unable to use him. At first he was happy.
