Quite surprised to see the deadline pass without ANY move to get picks for depth guys or for Roth himself.

So now that we've activated Roth, who did we cut/release/waive?

we didn't activate Roth yet

team is off today and practice tomorrow - that's when they have to make their move

I thought I read that they have 21 days to either keep him active or return him to IR. No cut required until then.

Ok, thanks for clarifying guys. I'm just surprised the FO didn't end up having a plan to get picks out of the situation. Now we're just going to be dropping a guy, probably LB, when there were LB-starved teams looking for help.

If he gets activated for the Jet game in 2 weeks, someone will be cut on the day he is actually activated, my guess is it will be either Moses or Anderson...

i have a question about roth. since our D has been so good against the run without him - do we really need him? i know taylor may be playing his last season - but as far as this season goes - why activate a run stuffing OLB when the pass rush is the problem? food for thought i suppose.

I guess the theory goes if he can take some run reps away from Taylor/Porter they can be fresher for pass rush situations.

Having Roth in there keeps JT fresh for obvious passing downs. Its called depth and we need as much of it as we can get in the front 7. Matt Roth actually had 5 sacks last season and he plays angry against the run.

You do realize JT is 35 right?

I think people forget how valuable Roth was in his first season at a new position. I don't think any of us know the details to his situation. He will come in and give us little to no fall off, while keeping our aging linebackers fresh.

I think he could be a huge asset for us. He could be the difference between us being #3 against the run and us being #1 against the run.
