I see our board for pick #25 being out of FS William Moore, MLB James Lauranitis, or C Alex Mack. In that order.

Now if we go any of these, who do we target at pick #44?

Probably depends which of the above 3 we select in the 1st (if any of them) , might go BPA that fits our needs ..

At the end of the day, if you review the games-especially the Ravens playoff game- we need a stud, physical Center and an aggressive #1 type, go to Receiver. For all that Ginn is and might be, those things he is not- at least not yet. So, especially with the Wake signing, I'm still looking at Alex Mack, Hakeem Nicks, Harvin if he falls (just too talented to pass up IMO) Max Unger, and at Safety William Moore.

p.s. I was thinking #25- if Mack or Nicks fell I'd take them in a heartbeat at #44. maybe Alex English, Herman Johnson, or Kenny Britt.

I just don't see J.Lauranitis being the ILB of a 3/4, you need the ability to shed blocks and make plays and that seems to be a weak area in his game. I also would be surprised if we went ILB before the 3rd round, that being said I see Moore, Mack, Sintim (even though we signed Wake he's still a bit of a project), or a trade down to gather more picks.

I think you look at OLB/C to go 1 then 2 which ever way we select meaning OLB first then C in the 2nd or then flip that C 1st OLB 2nd.

Mack/English or Sintim/Mack or BPA C

I'm pretty good at evalutaing talent, but I'm lousy at predicting picks, lol. Anyway, I'd say that you need to look at the talent spread in this draft to pick smart.

This draft has only a couple of good CB's, neither of whom will be available for us at 25, so that's a need we'll have to address either in FA or later in the draft.

It is very deep in quality OL, so that means you'll either see a run on T's early, and/or a lot of good mid-round OL picks will end up being real gems. I'd guess we could get a starting G in round 3 (Kraig Urbik is one I'd like to see us pick). There are a lot of quality T's out there this year. Not as many as last year, but it is a very good year for T's, and after last year, a few less teams needing them. I expect a run on T's in rounds 1 and 2. This is probably the best year for C's I've ever seen, but that's not a high-demand position, so I think there will be some good C's available at our 2A and 2B picks, and very possibly for our round 3 pick as well. I see us grabbing a C in round 2.

So if 2B is a C, and 3 is a G, and no CB is value in round 1, that means we'll likely pick a CB with either our 2A or 4 picks. Assuming we wait until 4 to pick a CB (there are a lot of quality CB's who were chosen in the mid rounds, so it's a decent percentage play), that leaves picks 1 and 2A to choose between NT, LB, S and WR.

I like your checklist in round 1, though I'd also add some more LB's and S Louis Delmas to the list, all of whom would be ahead of Alex Mack. Mack may be worth the pick, but with Alex Mack, Max Unger, Eric Wood, and Jonathan Luigs, I think we can grab a quality C in the 2nd round. The LB and S pickings will be far slimmer in round 2.

So, my guess at this point would be something like this:

1. LB/NT/S
2A. S/NT/T/G/C/WR
2B. C/G
3. G/C
4. CB/WR

This looks less clear that it will come Draft Day. Because then when you pick a position you can scratch it off of the other lists, and your selections come into better focus. Round 1 will be for value, the rest will be picks based on need and availability IMHO.

Your points on the Center position are sound, but I'd rather focus on getting the RIGHT Center- need at that position stuck out like a sore thumb this season. In terms of pure Center- Mack. But Unger is darned good and has actually overtaken Mack on quite a few boards. And you can't discount or deny his versatility. But when it comes to going to war with the Ravens, Steelers and Patriots of the league- Mack.

We've got roughly three months to go so it's incredibly hard to predict who will be there and who will grade out at that level.

A lot depends on our free agency activities, goes without saying I know but if we don't re-sign Vernon Carey then an offensive tackle goes up immediately to a high priority and probably at pick #25 since there are something like 6 or 7 offensive tackles worthy of a first or second round grade.

Jamon Meredith was recruited to South Carolina by Dave DeGuglielmo, and he's a very good offensive line prospect. It just so happens that there are other very good offensive line prospects in Eugene Monroe, Jason Smith, Michael Oher, Eben Britton, Andre Smith and William Beatty...and it's tough to figure where Meredith will stack up in that group. Meredith was quite obviously the best offensive lineman at the Shrine practices and the game itself. If not for Jarron Gilbert, he'd have probably been the best prospect at the Shrine practices period.

In the first round, if an Eben Britton or Andre Smith last to #25 (or if Jason Smith somehow, some way made it...which I severely doubt) then you have to give them STRONG consideration at RT. I think at pick #44, that is where Jamon Meredith and William Beatty come into play...but it's questionable as to whether they'll make it that far.

Other than that, there are a lot of linebacker prospects in this draft. And I'm talking guys with size. Aaron Curry (246), Rey Maualuga (260), James Laurinaitis (240), Brian Cushing (255), Clint Sintim (254), Larry English (254), Aaron Maybin (248), Connor Barwin (255), Lawrence Sidbury (265), Michael Johnson (258)...I think it would be really tough to not come out of this draft with a linebacker prospect that has such size going for him.

They always love to beef up that front line, too...and if somehow Jarron Gilbert made it to #44, which I severely doubt, you have consider the 6'5" and 287 pounder because he's an absolute physical FREAK, with excellent technique. I would also consider Robert Ayers at #44, same mold.

Wide receiver would have to be a very strong possibility at #44, much stronger than at #25...and if a Kenny Britt or Juaquin Iglesias made it that far, you really have to consider them. Britt's the sexy one with the size that all of the fans will want because we lack size in our WRs...but he's a bit of a diva and he doesn't have the experience level that Igesias does. Iglesias has started a ton of games, caught a ton of balls, has a nose for the end zone, and can run everything. I don't mean to downplay Britt, because one thing he does have going for him is he looks on tape like a strong blocker, and that will endear him to this front office. I would talk about Ramses Barden, but the reality is we need to see some All Star work on him before we make ANY evaluation of his abilities.

And at CB, I have a strong feeling that Macho Harris will be on our board in the 2nd round.

It's just way to damn early . . . really . . . we mock draft for fun, but until we know what we got in Free Agency, we are just guessing right now.

If Carey walks . . . RT becomes HUGE
If Crowder walks . . . ILB is HUGE
FS is already big and if we don't get a more suitable Center in Free agency, then it is a priority also.

I personally think we are going to resign Carey so OT becomes a depth issue in the later rounds.

If I had to guess, we really will seek NT, FS, CB, WR, OLB, ILB and C.

As hard as we went after Calvin Pace last season . . . I think we chase another LB this offseason. There has also been talk about the Ravens Center. WR I think we look at a veteran as we have 4 youngsters with potential.

That leaves NT, CB, FS and OLB (I think we look at Scott or Dansby at ILB)

1. Sintim
2a & 2b. Smith/Harris/Delmas/Johnson/BPA at FS or CB
3. Ron Brace

I dunno, its very difficult to project right now, this will be easier after free agency begins.

CK - I am not sure about Macho Harris ... he looks like a tampa 2 cover corner just like brandon flowers.. I see him as a better FS prospect than a corner at the next level

What if they re-signed Carey and he still fell to them. would you move Carey or Smith to guard. Jake Long and Andre Smith on the left side would be NASTY.

Hey CK, do you still see Sen'Derrick Marks as a possibility for them. He sorta fell off everybody boards.

Smith is being mocked by many as the #1 pick . . . and a top 5 lock . . . I think concerns of his ability to be a LT are scaring people, and I think the concerns are already MUCH bigger than that of Jake Long's a year ago.

It would be a no brainer to take him if he fell that far and I would put him at RT and put Carey at RG . . . and RUN RIGHT ALL DAY. That is alot of beef and talent on that side of the line.

Personally, no. I believe that if we re-sign Carey then they will shift their focus to offensive line DEPTH which means mid to late round selections and free agents. DEPTH was the biggest problem this year because we fielded, IMO, five good starters that had a genuine chance of gelling together and becoming one of the better units in the league (not to mention the youngest). But then Donald Thomas went down, we have to go with Ikechuku Ndukwe the whole year. Justin Smiley goes down, we have to go with a waiver wire grab, Andy Alleman...it just wasn't working, and it was making Jake Long, Samson Satele and Vernon Carey look worse than they are.

Shawn Murphy has to be accounted a huge disappointment for his inability to get into the rotation at all.

So if we re-sign Carey...focus on those five starters again, and this time make sure we have the depth to deal with injuries.
