He couldn't see talent standing next to him. Couldn't draft at all.
 
The team was in decline under Shula. Johnson was getting the fevense going. It has been a disaster ever sense.
 
In 2002 Wanny had a top 3 defense..the NFL's leading rusher, NFL sack champion and MISSED THE PLAYOFFS!!!!! Granted Ray Lucas ruined that season but a good coach coulda held a team that talented together.

I still remember the worst loss as a Dolphins fan I have ever had! Week 17 at NE a win and were division champs..Anyone who watched that game remembers ALL the crazy stuff that went against us, but how about having the lead with 3:00 minutes left and the ball AND the NFL rushing champ!!! And Wanny throws the ball 3 straight times..BOOM NE gets the ball back and goes on to win...

No, he didn't run the defense into the ground, he just thought scoring 10 points per game was good enough.
