I'm glad we have semi-objective persons sitting in as electors at the Hall of Fame, because I'd hate to see the collection of mediocrities that would be enshrined if it was a popular referendum. There are a list of 10-12 wide receivers that played during the 1980s that would get in the Hall of Fame before Duper and Clayton. As a rule, anyone awarded a Pro Bowl invitation is automatically a "preliminary nominee", you should see the list at the HOF website, everyone and their kid sister is on that list--John Offerdahl, Mark Bavaro, Ben Coates, Mark Stepnoski, Ken Harvey, Daryl Talley, Leroy Butler, Eric Allen, on and on and on. When you actually look at who is eligible for the HOF, it's amazing we don't end up with more suspect inductees then we do.
