Is 2018 NFL draft pick still an option?

Sorry I couldn’t help myself. I forgot about my truce. :-)

It’s like picking death by firing squad, lethal injection or hanging.

Firing squad: Fales
Lethal Injection: Osweiller
Hanging: Petty

David Fales is the likely backup QB. The reports from Davie are that he consistently impresses more than Osweiler and Petty. Let's see if someone emerges when things get more serious at training camp but I'd say that Fales is the firm favorite to win the backup role.

I understand none of those names on that list are sexy, but I have faith Tannehill will be strong and healthy and will last the whole season.
One could almost argue backup QB is the second most important position on the roster. Nothing can derail a season faster than losing your starting QB.

That being said, most teams are weak in this area. The better you can position your franchise against this risk, the better. Just look at Philly 2017. (Yes they also had a hell of a team).

Ideally someone who had proven he can hold down the fort until the starter comes back and wins the superbowl. Big arm but willing to play cheap to reprove himself. Also would help if he already has a working knowledge of our offense.

We would be brilliant to find a guy like that.

Ideally Tannehill plays every game this year. Whoever is the back up might get us a win or two but we're not going anywhere without Tannehill this year.

I picked Osweiler, he’s a got a stronger arm than Fales. Fales arm reminds me of Fiedler. Don’t really know what’s between the ears with Osweiler, if he can show he can grasp the playbook he could be a solid backup. I have been reading that Fales is a hard worker and Gase obviously loves him, but I still like Osweilers arm strength more.

Luck. No not Andrew, just some good luck that he stays healthy. Doesn't matter who's behind him, if he goes down, we're screwed again.

Matt Moore

Great backup. Leader. Knows system, Ryan, and had respect of teammates. Should have been handed starting role last year and we could have spent money on leaky O-Line instead of Cutler.
