Who do you want to start at QB???

Of the players on our roster: Gus

If I had my way we'd trade Aj for a day 2 pick or whatever we could get and sign Couch and give him a shot next.

My thinking is that we may as well try every qb thats available whether it be Gus, Sage, Couch or other.

Rivers is my ideal pick but i doubt seriously Sd will deal him right now

Gus is the starter for now, no question. I wouldn’t mind Sage getting an opportunity but at this point it’s probably too late in the preseason. Saban’s comments about not ruling out starting Sage were probably made more out of frustration, although if Saban is VERY disappointed in the QB play to this point, he may just do it.

After the last couple of games, I was cautiously optimistic that Feeley was finally coming around, but I can’t help but think that he took a HUGE step back today. My gut feeling is that Saban was using this game to gage Feeley’s progress and expected him to step up and take the starters job. The fact that Feeley tanked so badly not only cost him the starter job but he may have played his last game as a Dolphin. I’ve been rooting for Feeley but at this point I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets cut and Couch gets a chance. Neither QB has stepped up so desperate times call for desperate measures.

Couldn't agree more.

I don't think teams would have problems trading for Feeley as a 2nd stringer, maybe a playoff bound team would give a 4th who knows.

I agree with you on Couch.

Personally I would let Rosenfels start the first 6 games or so, if he stinks then at that point Couch should be up to speed.

It is clear, I don't think anyone can say that Frerotte or Feeley is a better choice at this point than any other QB. THEY BOTH HAVE STUNK AND WILL CONTINUE TOO.

Comon guys atleast let Frerrote do it, I mean he atleast was close to looking like a starter at times in his career. I'd start him or Sage. I really don't want A.J. starting. I tried to prove this during the off-season and the A.J. patrol came to hit me like a truck. I even said Tim Rattay was better with less but no one believed me.

Start Sage because simply said atleast he can run, unlike the others. If not Sage then Frerrote but please not friggin A.J.

I want Gus to start. Im not a Guskateer by any stretch of the imagination, but for now he is our best shot at winning amongst the 3 we are stuck with. If we brought ANYONE in, I'd probably want them to start tho.

Neither of the qb's are really made for linehan's system- gus is both too old and lacks the accuracy and smarts to hold down the role culpepper has in minny and aj...well he's just not that talented. I think this team would benefit more if linehan swallows his pride and just focuses on the running game. I believe he should make the qb's just focus on making the smart 5-10 yard throws and not put the team in any danger- just keep on movin' the chains!!! More focus on the running game and educating gus to just not lose the game; ala pittsburgh, will payoff dividends IMO.

This is what I think of our QBs and how they've performed.

:stooges:
That being said....I don't really have any preference as to who starts. Obviously Sage gave us a good half of football versus Atlanta, but who knows if he'll sustain that during the season.

At this point it doesnt really matter whether its Gus or AJ. Gus goes 9 of 25, AJ goes 4 of 17. I think we can get equally atrocious play out of either one of them. Sage has shown so little throughout camp that he is still behind both these bums on the depth chart, and there is no way I would want a QB that is WORSE than AJ or Gus to start.

I think we are in for a long season.

yes it does matter. Gus doesnt give 6 points to the other team (as long as his line blocks for him). Cant you see that yet? How many times last year, you see it again last night. What gives? Its not even close! Gus doesnt throw INT"s people!!!!!!! Sage has just moved up to #2 based on what Saban just said in regards to Sage possibly starting.

we should trade booker and thompson and a 7th round pick for either rivers during the season or frye or get just a qb thats not aj or sage.

HA, you really think a mediocre WR, a garbage WR and a useless 7th round pick will get someone worth at least 1st round pick?:shakeno:

No, really it doesnt. Cant you see that yet? IMO we arent going anywhere with Gus Frerotte. Thats not to say that we would be any better with Feeley or Rosenfels though.
You assume that the QB competition isnt even close based on what, the final preseason game performances? Gus threw 3 passes for 10 yds....3.333yds per attempt. Feeley threw 17 passes for 56yds....3.29yds per attempt. Feeley threw 1 INT. We have no idea how many INTs Gus would have thrown with an equal number of attempts. Overall Feeley had a very bad game and Frerotte didn't have enough attempts to make a judgement. Last week Gus had a very bad game and AJ had a pretty good one. The week before that Gus was average at best and AJ had a good game. So, according to preseason game performance, the QBs are VERY close. But really, thats only a small part of what goes into deciding on a starting QB. What you and so many others seem to be ignoring is that while at best we get to see the players perform in a few preseason games, Saban and the coaching staff see them every day in practice. Preseason game performance is a factor, but depending on how the QBs are doing in training camp, it may not be the deciding factor. The same holds true for Sage. He had a good game, but one good game isnt enough to catapult a player 1 or 2 places on the depth chart if he has struggled in practice. If Sage continues to impress then he may indeed move up (or if he has been impressive in the closed practices he may be moved up sooner), but he wont get there based on 217yds in the final preseason game alone. As for Saban's comments....he had some nice things to say about AJ last week and hinted that AJ could be considered for the starting position but it never happened. I wouldn't read too much into his comments about Rosenfels.

Overall, based on the limited performances I've seen, I stand by my statement....it doesnt really matter who our QB is this season, they are all equally capable of being terrible. I can only hope that in the practices that are closed to the public Nick Saban is seeing more.

Gus or sage. I would like Sage, he performed better than either AJ or Gus, but it was solely against teh third team, so that scares me somewhat. Gus will start.
