Branch? How many DT's do we have on our roster? I would actually go as far as saying DL particularly DT is our deepest position on the entire team. (excluding the current kicking depthchart:))

Well put, I was about to say the same thing. Neither of the Wrights are NT's and I doubt Traylor makes it through the season. We need a NT for the future if we're sticking with the 3-4.

you guys say we have NO DT so we take branch but BRANCH IS NOT THE NT FOR US!!!!!! he isn't powerful/strenght and showed lazyness during the damn work outs! NOW THATS A NT!
WRIGHT isn't a nose tackle? are YOU KIDDING ME? 330+ 6'5 "i think" canr't remember and runs as fast as holliday but isnt' a NT? lmaoo ppl, if he puts his head back on, he is a top 5 NT int he league due to potential adn we saw it late 05 in a few games. watch n see my friends.

Just because someone is big doesn't automatically mean they can play nose tackle. If they played their entire career as a 1 gap defensive tackle in a 4-3, like both Wrights did at USC and Texas, they probably won't be ideal fits for a NT. NT and DT are different positions. I'm not saying that they couldn't learn the position eventually and develop into it, but as of now, the only NT we have on the roster is Traylor.
Branch on the other hand, played extensively in a 3-4 at Michigan and has experience as both an end and a NT in that defense. That is why he would be a good pick at nine if he is still available.
uh...Wright was brought in for the 3-4 not the 4-3 and second Saban put together a GREAT D LINE so i think he knew what he was doing. HE played in a shcool that dindt play 4-3 so that means he cna't play 4-3 now? C'mon bro.

So you wanna let a player who cries when coach yells at him to play one of the more physically punishing positions on the field? I'm sure he'll react well when he starts getting doubleteamed and blindsided by guards and centers. Hes softer than the Pillsbury doughboy and has no experience playing the position.

Traylor, Evans will play NT, Manny Wright and Vickerson will be playing nose if needed but keep in mind, we're not going to be in a 3-4 all year, it'll be just like last year with a 4-3 "hybrid" and Traylor and Evans will be coming out on 3rd down passing situations.
