who else thought ronnie was starting to move the ball in the 4th qtr:confused:

i thought he was starting to have some decent runs

Yeah, he had some decent runs. He moves piles which is a plus. I think he is going to be a great back for us, he just needs some time to grow into the job.

From what I've seen, he's put Randy McMichael into TD position both times thus far.

Yeah, but we have to be careful not to let our need for this guy to be good color our perspective on him. The guy just hasn't looked like a #2 overall pick. Even Sammy Morris has looked better. There was a reason we were trying to trade down in the draft -- obviously Saban didn't think enough of this guy to stay at #2 overall.

Ronnie ran better later in the game because we had a large point deficit to overcome and the Jets knew we were going to pass. Even at that, his runs weren't what I would call impressive.

I don't believe 2 games is anywhere near enough to judge a rookie, but the fact that Morris ran better than Brown in this game should be a bit of a warning flag. Either Ronnie is not properly conditioned and studied, or he is struggling to make the adjustment to the pro-level game. Maybe both of these are true. Either way, Ronnie needs extensive attention in practice to help him reach his potential.

Like it or not, in today's NFL a number 2 pick has to start producing quickly. The salary cap does not allow for top draft picks to take multiple years for development. It is an issue of money. I hope for Brown's and the team's sake, he starts to show improvement. I will not be happy if there is a healthy Brown riding the bench while Sammy Morris takes the starting role.

I thought when he hit the hole hard he was doing an adequate job. He seemed a little indecisive, but he'll get better.

I can't believe all these posters who can't accept the fact that Ronnie Brown's a rookie and he's still learning the Pro game. Sure he was a number #2 pick in the draft and signed for a lot of money but that doesn't mean he can come to play for a team with one of the worst OL's in profootball and immediately start having 100 yard rushing games. He came into training camp a month late because that is what his agent advised him to do, so he could hold out for pay comenserate with #2 pick value. He still signed for less than the #3 pick received, but he didn't do anything none of the rest of us wouldn't have done in his shoes.
Pretty soon Ricky Williams will return and Ronnie Brown won't be pressured anymore to be the great hope for this offense and can learn from one of the best on how to run behind a bad offensive line and make your own holes to run through.

Ronnie is "pressing" thats it nothing more nothing less...when he stops doing that he will start to play like he is capable and then all these "bust" post will stop. please go ahead and quote me :D.
