Ronnie ran better later in the game because we had a large point deficit to overcome and the Jets knew we were going to pass. Even at that, his runs weren't what I would call impressive.
I don't believe 2 games is anywhere near enough to judge a rookie, but the fact that Morris ran better than Brown in this game should be a bit of a warning flag. Either Ronnie is not properly conditioned and studied, or he is struggling to make the adjustment to the pro-level game. Maybe both of these are true. Either way, Ronnie needs extensive attention in practice to help him reach his potential.
Like it or not, in today's NFL a number 2 pick has to start producing quickly. The salary cap does not allow for top draft picks to take multiple years for development. It is an issue of money. I hope for Brown's and the team's sake, he starts to show improvement. I will not be happy if there is a healthy Brown riding the bench while Sammy Morris takes the starting role.
