Forgive me if this has been posted already but here is another ESPN Insider article. I don't have a membership so I can't read it all but here is the preview:

Who fell into a better situation Culpepper or Brees?

Gary Horton: To be honest, I think Culpepper is in a great spot. He's from Florida so he's back home. He's on a contending team that is going to seriously challenge the Pats for the AFC East and he has a chance to turn this thing around quickly...

Money wise? Brees

Winning and playoff wise? Daunte :D

LOL. Great answer. But then again, winning gets you more money. I don't know that Brees will be doing much of that in NO.

It's not even a question. Pep with Booker, Chambers, Randy, Ricky (Maybe), Ronnie and an improving O-Line, a defense that really improved throughout the season last year and set a team sack record and now has Capers running it vs the Saints with a Loud Mouth Horn who's already been on record as saying he thinks that Brees was looking at money more than team.. an often injured McAllister, a horrible management team with a rookie head coach and NO defense..

Its a non-question. Brees cant turn that Franchise around on his own. Daunte is here to fine tune what weve already started. Now for an OLineman, a CB and a Safety and we are set.

It is not Cullpepper or Brees that came out on top, it is the Dolphins organization. We got a guy that we will win with, didn't cost too much, has proven he can play, and is here to win not make money. New Orleans got a guy they are married to. If he doesn't come back from the injury the way they hope, NO will be screwed. Remember everyone was complaining about him at the beginning of last year that he was not in his 2004 form? Worst case scenario Daunte doesn't come back from his injury and we have lost 2 million and we cut him. We are not tied to the guy at all.

Anyway, Cowherd spoke with a reporter from Miami and both agreed that Culpepper was CLEARLY Miami's second choice. Said there's no way they would go all the way to Birmingham, spend 3 days negotiating with a guy, then just "move on."

Said that "every smart NFL person prefers Brees over Culpepper." Was very complimentary of Brees, and said that Saban clearly chose "Plan B" because he had to, not because he wanted to.

Gave props to the Saints (also a backhanded compliment saying the NFL "won" b/c now Leinart doesn't have to go to NO).

This is a no brainer, Brees is going to get relive the pain Archie Manning experienced(the older fans on here will understand), while Culpepper walked into a franchise ready to start moving to the top again.

This is from a Saints board....why does that not surprise me. But that Leinart comment would sting if I was a Saints fan. That's low blow.
I didn't hide that it was a Saints board. It isn't "made-up". We just reported it first.

Thanks for the sympathy. ESPN mentioned the word "Saints" exactly 4 times last year. I forgot what league we were in.

My best friend back home in Miami is a huge Saints fan so I have a bit of a soft spot for them.
