Who forgives ricky for what he did?

there's alot more to the success of our running game than a couple of names

Uh.... that would be two words Mr. "advanced." (ex. a lot)

You spend so much time worrying about other people's morality you forgot how to spell. Hmmph!

The question is who forgives ricky for what he did i for one if and when he does comes back i will support it but i will never ever buy another ricky thing again.maybe it's just me but i have mixed feelings one part wants to forgive him the other half wants to say screw him i guess he will have to regain that trust and respect back with his teamates first and then with the fans.myself i will cheer for anybody in a fins uniform hands down but i don't know maybe im just confused.
For some reason some Dolphin fans are so obsessed with winning, that even if Ricky had killed someone they'd probably take him back.

WH said it himself, that after signing Wanny to an extension, he expected nothing less than the playoffs. He is a loyal owner, but the line was drawn, the extension meant nothing if nothing improved. If anyone thinks he is too loyal, I suggest you look back at when he forced Shula's hand, by bringing in the most sought after coach in JJ.

Wanny sure aint no Shula.
Well that's a good point, but if all the bad things had still happened, yet Wannstedt had sqeaked out 8-8......

I'd have to wonder if Wayne would have been a little forgiving. With all of our teams issues last season, 8-8 would have been a good season for us.

Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't. That's in the rearview mirror now anyway.

I still think last season was what our team needed to take the step in the right direction.

OK, had to throw my two cents into the arena. What in your right mind makes you think that Ricky Williams NEEDS your forgiveness (or mine for that matter). Does the fact that he hurt your feelings make it so bad that you feel he needs to apologize to you personally? Seriously? Get over it!!!!

I don't care about why he quit, I don't care about the coaching, or the drugs, or the o-line or his " character". Let me ask this, how many points did we score last year for having " good wholesome" players on the field? I want a number give me how many points that we scored due to good character (this would be on top of our TD's, PAT's FG's, and safeties)? I'm pretty down with the rule books and I must have missed the section on where you get bonus points for having upstanding players on your squad.

He is an ENTERTAINER just like everyone else on the field. We pay them to entertain us through the venue of sports. I don't pay him to be an upstanding citizen, or a "hero" (which is a whole other topic I will be more then glad to argue about). I pay ALL of them to ENTERTAIN me. Last season they did a bad job I was not entertained, this season looks to be better thank g-d.

If he has a million chances and still is successfully then so be it it is not my position to give him those chances. It is my position to abstain from buying his merchandise, it is within my power to boo him, it is withing my power to teach my children what he did off the field is wrong. It is my position to voice my opinion and respect the opinions of others with a civilized debate (as can be found right here on this site for example). It is the dolphins organization's responsibility to decide if he wears aqua and orange again. Theres no use bitching or moaning about it. cause there ain't Shiite you can do about it!! (except to post this same topic under 40 different headers for the last 3 months straight)

The second he dons the aqua and orange I am a fan of his as I am the entire roster for better or for worse, My die hard fan-ism is like a marriage you gotta take the good with the bad, like it or leave it.

:shakeno: I seriously doubt there is anyone on this board that would go that far. But then, nothing would surprise me.

Really? I have no doubt that several would accept him back. It wouldn't surprise me if the poll would end up about 50/50.

BTW, in terms of team effects, what RW did was worse than killing someone (unless he killed a person on the team or field). Now I'm not saying that lying and disloyalty are worse than murder on a morality scale. I'm saying that lying and disloyalty affect teammates personally. It's easier to accept the justifications for murder of someone you don't know or care about. In fact, justification are built into our legal system (self-defense, defense of others, etc.). Personally, I doubt I'd want him back on the team in either instance, but the lying and lack of loyalty to the team would be more of a team detriment. As a teammate, I'd think it was more likely that he was lying to me than that he was about to try to kill me.

I dont think we can generalize.Every situation is different but in general I think its a mistake to be seduced by potential talent overlooking character and physcological issues that player may have.

You just have to look at our recent history with players like Lawrence Phillips and Cecil Collins .

IMO these kind of players will revert to what comes natural sooner or later and ultimately they are not worth the time and investment spent on them.

I doesnt mean that all of our players have to be perfect characterwise but at least their conduct should not be a detriment to their team and teamates.

In Ricky's case there are mitigating circumstances. We already have a heavy investment in him and we must try to recoup whatever we can for him.Besides he is a proven entity although he will have to prove himself again.

If thats what it took to get rid of Dave and Jay, i'd give him the keys to the city !!!!!!!!!!!!

Dave and Jay were on their way out anyway. No way we would have won more than six games last year even if Ricky played. Our O-line was garbage and our D-line was decimated by injuries. All this "thanks Ricky, your selfish ego helped get rid of Wanny" crap is getting a little sickening. Our team was in free-fall talentwise at many positions and it was only a matter of time before Wanny and Jay were history.
