Who gets Evans's roster spot?

I know that the PBP speculated that it would be Alex Holmes but I don't think that's what's going to happen. If Saban told Evans he was cut because of a "numbers game" why would he bring up Holmes to take his spot and essentially, be a FB (H-Back)? Do you think it could be Gibson? If you think about it, we could use a WR more than we could use a FB, H-back, or a TE.
 
thats what i was thinking with booker supposedley injured....why not call up gibson im curious to see what this guys got.
 
I heard Alex Holmes, but with Booker hurting and Boston doing whatever it is, Gibson might be smart!
 
First of all, I don't think Holmes is so in demand that we would put him on the roster so we don't lose him. Secondly, we have Morris,Williams, Brown, Diamond and Heller who could all fill in at FB/H-back so we have depth there. Thirdly, there are more pressing needs than finding a backup FB. Finally, if Saban told Evans he was being cut because of a "numbers game" and yet signs a FB/H-back, he's lying to Evans and that doesn't seem like it's his style. I say the guy will either be a WR, CB, or a S although I think that the CB or S will take over for T Jones. If we still have him, I think Eiland will be brought up to take over for Jones. If my vote mattered, I'd like to see Gibson take Evans spot and see what the guy could do for us.
 
hmmm...what about shirdonya mitchell....we could certainly use his help right now....couldnt be much worse than howard
 
I think the person with the most potential off the PS is Berger the o-lineman we got from Carolina. I watced him all preseason and I just said in another thread I woul'nt be suprised to see him get some playing time this year. He mauled people all preseason and no it wasn't 3rd string he played with the starters a couple times.

He's on the 53 man roster.

that sucks then...i thought he had a chance of playing this yr i guess not.....poole hasnt been placed on IR yet althogh its a slim chance maybe he can be some help this season.
 
What do you guys think about Eiland replacing Jones whom we had in the preseason? I thought he was alright. I think he's still on our PS so why not bring him up? At least you know he knows the system.

Poole is on the PUP
SM is on the IR
 
No Shird Mitchell can come back this year. He is placed on the Non-football Reserve in which he started doing drills last week. I would look for him to join the team this season.
