Jake Long would be smart to bolt after next year when he's a free agent. Why would he stick around for this mess. He can finish his career in a much happier place with a better franchise, and a team that's properly constructed.
What alot of you dont understand, or dont even bother to see, is the fact that alot of these players wont be here in 1, 2 or 3 years. And now you have to replace those positions - that's ON TOP of all the current holes on the roster that have to be filled.
Dansby will be slowing down. His game is mostly about speed and speed goes first when you hit 30. Wake wont be the same guy in 2 years, and as salary cap stricken as the Dolphins are, he will have to be paid top dollar after next season, along with Jake. Then you have Bush who'll be a UFA after next season, and who knows what he'll be by that time (its very rare for a player to have a career year this deep into a career and then repeat it the following year - thats just a fact). And there's others that will have to be re-upped as their current contract expires
So to finish, a little rundown of this dire and hopeless situation:
1) Not much cap space, 2) no QB, 3) holes everywhere (go to the draft forum and people are looking for CB, Guard, WR, WR, TE, DE pass rusher, SS, FS, RT, QB, even Kuechly at MLB people want - just speaks of all the holes on this team) 4) expiring contracts soon that will require a big raise in pay for numerous players, and last but not least 5) Not a desired destination for players to go to
What a poorly designed and constructed team this is. A total mess
Talented team my arse. This is a team full of flaws, if you care to take off those aqua and orange blinders
