Who is a better DRAFTER? Jimmy Johnson or Parcells???

For us??

As of now Jimmy Johnson look at the 2 rocks he turned over for Taylor and Thomas but then again he did grab Avery in the first round.

JJ built our entire defense from the ground up...and destroyed our offense.

I remember seeing him reach for 1st round rb after 1st round rb looking for the next emmit. Those picks would have been better served addressing the o-line or looking for Marino's successor.

I Will Tell You In 2 Years When I See How Langford, Henne, Merling, And The Rest Do...

Overall. Giants, Cowboys, Pats, Phins, Jets.

Taylor
Surtain
Thomas
Aikman
Smith

Bledsoe
Martin
Glenn
Spears

elaborate. I think the comparisons are similar.

JJ could have drafted the reincarnation of Johnny Unitas, still, IMO, for a slew of reasons, he's the worst malignancy that could have, and did eat away at the Fins since Shula retired - so he gets NO accolades from me!!!

I seem to remember a WR from U of M that didn't produce either. Yes, Jimmie found some hidden gems, but did ANY of his 1st round picks amount to much? I think the current regime equals his entire draft career with the Dolphins with the 1st draft!

2 questions, dude....1) Who is Unitas reincarnated? 2) What is that thing on Pennington's arm? (It looks like a vagina made of pasta)

JJ's best days were with the Cowboys.... Few in league history could match those drafts.. He did well with the Fins.. more so on defense. He did little if anything for the offense.

I don't think Parcells was responsible for drafting LT, Simms, etc.. I believe the Giants had GM doing that during those years.

At this point, I would give the edge to JJ, but the book is not closed on Parcells. We'll see how the next few draft classes play out.

Just my opinion

I think i would say Jimmy Johnson was better at drafting players than Parcells, he had roots into the college game and was always able to evaluate talent well on that level. Parcells found MANY solid players through the draft though guys like:

- Drew Bledsoe
- Ben Coates
- Terry Glenn
- Curtis Martin
- John Abraham
- Laverneus Coles
- Shaun Ellis
- Jason Ferguson (who of course is now with us)
- Jason Fabini
- Terrance Newman
- Jason Witten
- Demarcus Ware

That's quite a list of players, but a lot of people say "well how could he mess up with Newman or Bledsoe" guys who were top picks in the first round. A lot of teams do mess up though, so i dont see how that is a valid point.

I think he drafted James Farrior with the Jets, wasn't he drafted by Parcells.

Yes he did. You could also add guys like: Ty Law, and Willie McGinest to that list.

Is this some sort of joke? JJ built a dynasty, parcells has been a medicore drafter at best.

JJ
'89-'93 Dallas: Aikman, Johnston, Stepnoski, Tony Tolbert, Emmitt, Maryland, Harper, Edwards, Erik Williams, Lett, Brown, Kevin Smith, R. Jones, Jimmy Smith, D. Woodson, D. Smith,
'96-'99 Miami: Gardener, Zach, taylor, Madison, Rodgers, Surtain, Mixon, Konrad

BP
'93-'95 NE(he lost power in '96): Bledsoe, Slade, Brown, McGinest, Law, Johnson, Martin,
'97-'99 Jets(Groh was in charge in '00): Farrior(traded away #1 overall which could have been pace), Ferguson, Fabini, R. Thomas, Ryan Young.
'03-'06 Dallas: Newman, Witten, James, Crayton, Ware, Barber, Jones

This isn't even close. parcells had a couplf of good years(most notably '95 w/ NE) but JJ built a dynasty, parcells hasn't built a single Championship team.
