Man ever since Satele stunk up the C position and I saw this kid play I have been on his bandwagon. We all know our Coach is an OL coach and the you build teams along the line. So would anyone be upset about drafting Alex Mack with our first pick.

mack is alright and i would be ok with him MAYBE with
our 2nd of the second rounders [if they decide they are
taking o-line at the spot] but anything earlier with the center
position would have to be MAX UNGER!!!

i havnt seen a center get off the ball and into his blocks that
fast since dwight stevenson. in fact, his stance and snap are
almost identicle with that forward crouch and rear end up HIGH
in the air.

this is the ONLY o-lineman i would want in the first 3 pics. i do
like mack, but if we are going center, UNGER is the guy, no question
about it.

Although I believe in building through the trenches, I think using our first rounder on a Center is a waste. There are several positions that need upgrading more than Center....like FS, OLB, CB and NT. Our secondary is old and we have no real pass rush....not to mention Ferg.

Satele has played adequate and has started his first two seasons. Maybe with a good off-season conditioning program he can bulk up....he's still a young guy that can get better.

The Fins are lacking in talent in many areas and old in others. Upgrading Crowder, Carey or Satele is not wise. Only teams stacked with talent can afford to try and upgrade their young...and dare I say...good players. Miami will not show much improvement trying to replace players like Satele, Crowder and Carey unless we either pay for Pro Bowl talent in FA or get really lucky in the draft.

On the other hand....finding a good FS, OLB, NT and CB are soon to be priorities based on their age. Let's worry about upgrading our young talent when this team has more good young players...say in a couple years.

Now, if Satele could be traded for say a 3rd and the Fins think there will be a strong possibility of a better Center in the draft then go for it.

If he is capable of performing like a 1st, then i have no problem picking him. We all see what picking Jake has done for us. If he is worth it then he is worth it. Im not one who believes that only certain positions are worth 1st round picks. Asside from kickers and punters. If he makes our middle strong. If he allows us to open holes for the backs and can at least slow down the Ngatas and Wilforks then hed be worth it.

Not in the first round!!! If he is still there for our second pick of the 2nd round...that would be OK. From what I have seen of him (just three games..) he looks like a very good run blocker, but I wasn't impressed by his pass-blocking...the guy against him got pressure on the QB enough for me to notice it...

He does look a heck of a prospect but we have bigger needs than getting a new C at the moment. Deffo not with the first round pick and maybe in rounds 2.

1st round picks should be used on future probowlers, the position they play shouldn't matter (excluding Kickers and ST guys). If A.Mack is half as good as he's being touted then he's worth picking anywhere we select.

i wouldn't be mad, but i wouldn't expect it neither... we've got a lot of guys inside, Ndukwe, murphy, thomas, smiley, satele, alleman, frye, johnson .... they're not all good but there is starting quality guards and centers in there, and very good backups ... i think the biggest need on the oline is a tackle who will replace carey if he's out, or simply a tackle who can play to the left or right, to backup both tackle positions...

fixing this defence is the biggest thing now IMO

maybe 2nd round if he is still there i think drafting a center first round is crazy maybe a gaurd and move Donald thomas to C

I actually think we should draft Alex Mack in the first if he is there and then with 2ndA get Phil Loadholt the tackle from Oklahoma
Our O-line would be amazing
Jake Long - Donald Thomas - Alex Mack - Justin Smiley - Phil Loadholt
Samson Satele - Samson Satele

And Ronnie is in a contract year he has no excuse now he should be healthy have a very good (not great yet) O-line he should have a crazy year (I'm so excited) and if he plays at the level he played in 07 sing him up for another 5 years

and with the o-line and backs set for the next couple of years we can look to build our D with the rest of our picks (including next year)

2ndB Ron Brace DT from Boston College

Exactly how I feel. We just have SOOOO many young guys on this line already, there is no way I could figure drafting a Center in round 1. Maybe pick 2b . . . but that is up to the FO. Trust me, Sparano and BP will find gems with who we already have to work out the interior.

But u hit the nail on the head with tackle, that is the most important position on the OLine, even if we resign Carey . . . we need some depth there because we just don't have it.

I'm for it. To think of a center to left trio of Mack-Smiley-Long is sick. We could run behind that all day.

i been seeing alot of mocks saying steelers would pick mack would u trade the pick to them to get more picks and what compensation would be fair with trading the first round picks
