I have mixed feelings. Fisher was probably the safest choice, but far from a slam dunk. I am very concerned with who is left over though. I think Philbin is out of the HC race. Too much going on with his family (see Tony Dungy). Chud for some reason strikes me as Cam Cameron part II. He seems like a guy who needs the right players and the right situation to be successful. I personally want no part of Zimmer. It is absolutely time we distanced ourselves from any Cowboy cast offs. My first choice would be Marty though I haven't even seen anything saying he even wants to return to coaching. My guess for who actually get the job would be Zimmer or Toub. Man, and I thought our stadium was empty last year. Yikes!!!!

I want to win and further I want to win NOW! I am tired of waiting. If one of these untested Coordinators can bring that I will be on board ( like lost SF coach Harbaugh is doing) but I will not be happy if we have to give our new coach time ( seasons of football) to become a true head coach. Also my dislike of keeping Ireland is well known and I believe he will drag this team down as long as he is here.

Take a look at the playoffs dude. 9 of the 12 teams that made it have a first time head coach running the show. Ravens (John Harbaugh), Steelers (Mike Tomlin), Texans (Gary Kubiak), Bengals (Marvin Lewis), Packers (Mike McCarthy), 49ers (Jim Harbaugh), Saints (Sean Payton), Lions (Jim Schwartz) and Falcons (Mike Smith) all have first time head coaches. Only 3 teams have retreads.

Dolphins need to find OUR coach not someone elses cast off.

I wanted either Billick, Fisher, Marty Ball in that order... The only one who we've expressed interrest in is now somewhere else... And out of the unproven guys, I want Toub. Lots of people will say well he's just a STC, well at least he's in charge of that unit, which is top 5 year after year, unlike guys like Philbin or Carmicheal who actually run someone elses scheme...

I think they will look at Carmichael. He is still in the playoffs. You do have Moss as well. Ross made it very clear there were some candidates still coaching in the playoffs.

You can cross both Chud and Philbin off your list.

Just remember next season at this time when we go 8-8 with the great Dave Toub and the Rams are competing for the NFC West, just remember how happy you were.

This franchise is a ****ing joke.

lol the Rams competing for the NFC West...that's awesome. I'm gonna have to book mark this one and bring it back up next year.

vaark your argument is even stronger if you say 4/5ths instead of 2/3rds.

2 different polls: On the all things being equal poll, I believe I said the equivalent of 4/5ths when referencing 80%, although granted, the former might have appeared more impactful. Either way, I'm gonna take your input constructively as I know it was intended and fixate on the phrase "even stronger"

I was hoping for Fisher since last year, but I'm not broken-hearted that he's not coming. I think there are a lot of assistants out there (Philbin, Carmichaels, Moss, Zimmer, Chudzinski, Jay Gruden, etc.) this year that could turn out to be good head coaches, as good or better than Fisher. And, if Ross has his mind made up that he's sticking with Ireland, as much as I might disagree, it's probably not to have Fisher than to have him here and constantly butting heads with the GM.

The two things I don't want are a big-name guy who has predominantly a college background like Chip Kelly and Les Miles or one of these retreads who has spent the last few years on TV like Cowher, Billick and Jon Gruden -- they were terrific coaches in their day, but I really question their hunger after being away and whether they can recapture what they did before.

Marty Shottenheimer might be the lone exception to that latter group. He has a low-key quality that reminds me of Vermeil that I think could translate after a few years away from the sidelines.
